Chapter 1
Detective Kara Halime
&
Detective Louis
It was another one of those days when she felt a little demotivated or uncomfortable. And the place where she always went to feel peace was wherever he was.
So, that morning she went to his office. They worked under the same label but on different teams. He used to work solo. In his own silence and loneliness because he loved to. While she was the leader of her team of six men, even though she was the youngest.
As she entered his office, he glanced up for a second. She sat on the chair across from him, her shoulders slumped and a small pout on her lips as if she was already tired before the start of the day. He gave her a smile, one that melted her heart.
“I am not in the mood to work today. I don’t feel good.” She said, flinging an arm over her eyes.
“What’s the matter?” He asked casually.
He was always like this. Calm, composed, cold, serious, dedicated, possessive and somehow fierce. But no one knew whatever storms were brewing in him, how he was concerned for her and how he cared. But that was just how she liked him. Giving small smiles, supporting in silence, secretly caring, making her feel only his, protecting her from the world and sometimes from her own recklessness.
She leaned forward, her elbows on her knees, her eyes shining with that mischievous glint even though she was not feeling good.
“For the first time in my whole career I made a wrong move, got the wrong information, missed a clue and in the end…FAILED THE WHOLE CASE!” She said dramatically, throwing her hands in the air and then leaning back in the chair again to which he chuckled
She was this kind of girl. Innocent, playful, sweet, emotional but in front of people chosen by her heart one of which was him, comfortable around those she loved and daring around others, responsible and passionate. A little dramatic but exactly how he liked her. Full of energy, always making him feel comfortable, understanding, respecting his space and never questioning his things.
“Don’t worry. I’m with you.” He said, offering a smile to which she took a deep breath and nodded.
“Okay then. I have to finish some leftover work. I will be back.” She said, standing up.
“Okay.” He nodded and she left.
In the evening, Louis went to the main station with her as she had some work over there. She went up to an officer as soon as they entered while he leaned against a wall at a little distance, his arms folded and eyes fixed on them.
“I want her address” She demanded from the officer
“Who are YOU?” He asked, clearly fed up from his work.
“Detective Kara Halime!” She answered, confident and daring.
“Ohhhh, you...that burnt shit” He sarcastically snapped.
Louis was standing still, acting all calm and composed, controlling the storm that has started to build in him.
“You don’t want to see me beating the hell out of you” She said, trying to control her anger.
“Shut the fuck up! You’ve already lost influence because of losing a case.” The officer venomously humiliated her.
She stepped forward. Close to him. About to take out her gun out of anger. But Louis came in between, so close to her.
“Halime, let’s go!” He said, so calmly taking her arm and turning her to himself.
“Yeah, take this filth outta here!” The officer said.
Louis glared at him. Then he somehow took Halime out and straight to her home. They were silent the whole drive which was unusual of her but he said nothing knowing that she was feeling down.
As soon as they entered, she sat on the sofa with him sitting beside her, silent but comforting.
She clenched her fists so tight that her knuckles turned white and when she couldn’t keep it in anymore, she started crying. Starting from a single tear and then her eyes were running oceans.
Seeing her distress, he moved closer and wrapped his arms around her in a warm, comforting and strong embrace.
He kept holding her as long as she was crying and after letting it all out, he pulled back slightly, gently wiping off her tears.
“That damned shit won’t bother you again.”
This was all he said before she slept right there out of exhaustion and he left the house after draping a light blanket over her.
When the night was deep, Louis was standing on the rooftop when the same police officer came there as Louis had called him.
“What is it?” The officer said, rolling his eyes.
Without a single word, Louis punched his face and then another and another until his nose and mouth started bleeding. He cut his tongue off because he talked filth from it about her.
And just like that, the presence which made his girl cry, made his girl feel uncomfortable, made his girl feel down was finished. Without even her knowing this. Without her knowing that he had taken her revenge so dangerously. It started quietly and ended quietly.
Back at home, he entered only to find her placing two plates of food at the table. He joined her and as they began to eat, she launched into her stories of her days in the training period, funny things and even non-sense but all of it was what he loved to listen to. She was happy now. Better than she had been the whole day. And he was glad that he was the one who consoled her, who made her feel happy, who she laughed with and who absorbed her tears. He smiled at everything she said and commented a little when he felt he should. And she? She could never ask for anything more than his presence and quiet support. She was feeling very good telling him whatever she wanted to, crying in front of him, sharing her deepest concerns and fears with him and having him by her side.
It was very late at night and the whole world was quietly sleeping. But who cares? They were together on the rooftop, stargazing. When she was busy enjoying the view, he glanced at her, a small smile forming on his lips and his inner said
I AM HERS AND SHE IS MINE!
