Author's Pov
I hate you to the core," he said, his voice low and shaking with something darker than anger. "I despise your existence. But fate is cruel I can't let you be happy. I can't stand to see you smile. I'll take away every path that leads you to it."
He seized her from behind, fingers sliding over the exposed skin of her back before forcing her to turn toward him. His touch burned, possessive and unrelenting. Their faces were inches apart now so close that her breath fanned against his lips.
His hand rose to her throat, gripping it in a hard, unyielding hold. Not enough to choke but enough to remind her of his strength.
"I hate you," she spat, her eyes blazing with defiance.
"Hate me," he whispered, a dangerous smile curving his mouth. "Hate me as much as you want. I'll still be the one who reaches inside that guarded heart of yours. I'll be the one who tears down every wall you hide behind."
Before she could pull away, he caught her lower lip between his teeth and bit down hard enough to draw a sharp gasp from her. The metallic taste of blood brushed his tongue. A soft, pained sound escaped her lips.
He shoved her back abruptly.
She stumbled, losing her balance, until the back of her knees hit the sofa and she fell against it. He stood there for a moment, watching her, then slowly licked his lips.
"You taste like sin," he said coldly. "And that's exactly what you are."
Without another glance, he turned his back on her.
Her fingers trembled as she touched her swollen lip. Anger flooded her veins, hotter than the sting he'd left behind. She stomped her foot against the floor, her voice shaking but loud.
"I will hate you so deeply that I'll make your life hell!"
He didn't flinch.
He didn't pause.
He didn't look back.
As if her fury was nothing more than empty air brushing against his spine.
