Summary

Kyle is a gifted academy student who returns home expecting a normal break, only to discover that his city, Marsia, is quietly collapsing under a hidden system of control. Marsia is not truly ruled by its official Baron, but by a hidden architect—Duke Richard—who has turned the entire region into a structured machine of fear, drugs, and obedience. Beneath the city, a large-scale ritual is being prepared to summon a Demon King, not as a disaster, but as the first step in a larger plan to break the boundaries between worlds and unleash greater entities for political domination. After learning forbidden magic called Manipulation Thread, Kyle uncovers the truth behind Marsia’s system, including hidden spies and a “Truth Worm” that kills anyone who learns restricted information. When Kyle returns home, he finds his family already falling apart—his sister missing and his father mentally broken under manipulation and dependency. As the conspiracy tightens, Kyle learns the ritual is nearly complete. In an attempt to stop it, he confronts his uncle, a key participant in the system. The fight escalates into destruction, triggering the full summoning process. During the chaos, Kyle loses his remaining family and realizes the city is already beyond saving. In response, Kyle unleashes his hidden power as a 7th-tier mage, but the Demon King ritual has already opened a massive portal

Chapter 1;Departure from the Academy

“So… the time to return has finally come,” Kyle said quietly.

He stood alone on the academy roof, watching the sky above the capital.

A translucent window appeared across the air, visible to every student in the grounds.

[SCHOOL NOTICE: All students must return home tomorrow.]

The announcement drifted across the academy like a final bell.

Below, students reacted with excitement, relief, and noise.

Kyle did not.

“You didn’t clean the classroom before coming up here.”

Marissa’s voice came from behind him.

Kyle didn’t turn. “You didn’t even check before accusing me.”

A pause.

Then a sigh.

“Don’t tell me you actually left it dirty,” she said.

“I used magic,” Kyle replied calmly.

“You’re not at that level.”

Only then did Kyle glance at her.

“I used the mana the teacher left behind.”

Silence followed.

Marissa narrowed her eyes, then exhaled. “Of course you did. Prodigy problems.”

She turned away.

Kyle watched the horizon.

“I’ll go rest.”

The Next Morning

The academy felt quieter.

Final.

Students carried bags, said goodbye, and left in groups.

Kyle walked through the gates without looking back.

They closed behind him with a heavy sound.

Not like an ending.

Like a lock.

A carriage waited at the roadside, marked for travel toward Marsia.

He stepped inside.

Inside were two passengers.

A girl with long white hair, her face hidden beneath a veil.

She did not speak.

Across from her sat a young man, composed, watching quietly.

No one spoke.

The carriage moved.

The Road to Marsia

The capital disappeared behind them.

The world outside changed.

Not in beauty.

In control.

Villages passed slowly along the road.

Human towns. Beastfolk settlements. Even goblin villages.

All existing—but none truly free.

Some places were quiet.

Too quiet.

Others showed signs of collapse—empty streets, broken homes, people gone without explanation.

Plague and curses existed here.

But not as natural disasters.

As consequences.

Marsia was different.

It did not suffer from disease alone.

It suffered from order.

The Baron ruled this land.

Not through chaos.

Through structure.

His authority was enforced by 4th-tier knights.

They did not need to shout.

They did not need to explain.

Their presence was enough.

Drugs weakened resistance.

Fear maintained silence.

Even survival here came with obedience attached.

Kyle watched everything without expression.

But something inside him tightened slowly.

Not anger shown.

Anger stored.

The girl with white hair finally spoke.

“…You’re not from Marsia, are you?”

“No,” Kyle replied.

Silence returned.

The carriage continued forward.

Until it stopped at the city boundary.

Kyle stepped out.

Marsia’s gates rose high above him.

Knights stood at the entrance.

He felt it immediately.

Pressure.

Not magic.

Not aura alone.

Authority sharpened into force.

Without hesitation, Kyle spoke.

“I’m not entering the city.”

The driver frowned. “This route leads into Marsia.”

“I know,” Kyle said.

Then he turned away.

“Different path.”

The carriage continued without him.

And Kyle walked alone toward home.

Home

The door opened slowly.

Inside—

A man sat near the floor.

His father.

Once strong.

Now broken.

Eyes unfocused. Hands trembling.

Not from illness.

From dependency.

A drug had replaced discipline.

And obedience had replaced will.

When he noticed Kyle, he straightened slightly.

“I’m fine,” he said quickly.

A lie spoken too easily.

Kyle’s gaze shifted.

“Where is she?”

A pause.

His father avoided his eyes.

“…Still missing.”

The words were careful.

Controlled.

Hiding more than they revealed.

His father spoke again, quieter this time.

“Your uncle has been… helping.”

Helping.

The word didn’t belong in this room.

Kyle turned away.

The house felt empty.

Not physically.

But in presence.

His sister was gone.

No body.

No explanation.

Only absence.

Kyle exhaled once.

Slowly.

“I see.”

Not acceptance.

Just acknowledgment.

And then he walked deeper into the house.

As if nothing had changed.

Even though everything already had.
