Chapter 1

Elijah

Everyone was out celebrating Mia winning her court case against Gavin or Tony or whatever his fucking real name is, and she and the girls were having the time of their lives. Drunk off their asses and dancing like loonies. Well, that was until Mia clocked delulu Lisa touching Cam, then she turned into the feisty woman who broke my nose, storming over there and ripping Lisa off him by her hair and throwing her to the floor.

Mia puts her right in her place and tells her to fuck off, but she doesn’t get the hint and clings to my arm asking me to sleep with her, which turned my stomach so bad I actually had to choke down some bile. Taylor flipped and punched her, declaring me as hers before asking for a drink. I went straight to the bar and ordered her a beer, just as she had asked me.

Watching Taylor punch Lisa in the face was so sexy, but hearing her declare me as hers made my heart skip a couple of beats. Yes, she only says stuff like that when she’s wasted, but Mia said her heart wants me, but her head won’t let her. I really wish her head would allow her to. I love her so much, well; I think I do. I head back to the group with Taylor’s drink in hand to find her arguing with a guy.

“You bastard, how long? How fucking long have you been lying to me and sneaking around?” She shouts.

“It’s not what you think, honey, I swear,” he replied.

“Really? So if it’s not what I think, then please explain to me why you’re here when you told me you would be gone for a month, which was only a week ago?” She asks, crossing her arms.

“It was cancelled, honey, I got back earlier today,” he said, slurring his words.

“Andy baby, come on, we need to go, the babysitter needs to leave,” a woman says, coming up and taking Andy’s hand. “Oh, are you not going to introduce me to your friends? I’m Kylie, Andy’s wife. Nice to meet you all,” she says, and Taylor’s face pales.

“Nice to meet you. How long have you been married?” Blake asks her.

“It will be a year next month, but we have been together for 8 years and we have two lovely children, don’t we baby,” she says looking at Andy who was staring at Taylor.

“You’re a no good, lying, cheating scumbag, and your family deserve so much better than you,” Taylor screams in his face before punching him, laying him out and walking off towards the bar.

“I’ll go, you guys deal with that,” I say, pointing at the now very angry wife and her husband with a broken nose.

I walked to the bar and found Taylor downing shots. I step up next to her and take the shot out of her hand.

“Oh honey, you don’t need any more of those,” I tell her and take the shot for her.

“How could I have been so stupid, Eli? I believed everything he told me, but I was the other woman. I’m such a damn fool,” she says, flagging down the barmaid and ordering more shots.

“Tay, he was the fool sweetheart, not you. He wanted his cake and to eat it. I’m so sorry you got burnt by his actions, but he didn’t deserve you,” I tell her as the barmaid sets more shots down on the bar in front of us.

Taylor downs two one after the other before turning to me.

“I don’t know Eli, I must have “doormat” or something tattooed on my face. Why is this always happening to me?” She says sadly.

“You just haven’t found the right one for you Tay, the person who will always put your needs and wishes above their own, that person is out there waiting for you honey,” I tell her pulling her to me so I could hug her. “Come on, I’ll take you home,” I say, and I steer her away from the bar and towards the exit. I whistled to my team and motioned that I was taking her home, and they nodded in return.

We head out front, and I get an Uber and tell him her address. She doesn’t speak. She just sits there, leaning on me for support. Once we get to her place, I pay the guy and we head to her door. She gets her keys out and opens the door, stepping inside and flicking her lights on.

“Get some rest, Tay. I’ll come get you in the morning for breakfast with Mia and Car,” I say and turn to leave.

“Please stay, Eli, I really don’t want to be alone,” she says, so I step inside and shut and lock her door.

She walked down to her kitchen, flicking the light on, then grabbing two beers from her fridge. She walked into her lounge, with me following behind her, and she sat down on the couch, taking her shoes off before curling her legs up underneath her. I sit down next to her, and she hands me a beer.

“Where’s your head at, Tay?” I ask her, and she looks up at me totally defeated.

“I feel like a fucking idiot, Eli. How the hell did I not see the lies? I’m a fucking lawyer for God’s sake, I spot lies on a daily basis. How could I have missed this and for 3 fucking years?” She says, getting angrier by the second.

“He convinced you everything he said was the truth, and that everything was fine. He is the person in the wrong here, sweetheart, not you. You just fell for the wrong guy,” I tell her, and the tears finally fall.

I take her beer and place it on the coffee table and pull her into my arms and hold her while she cries her eyes out. She eventually cries herself to sleep, so I move us down and lie back on the couch, pulling her with me and I settle down to get some sleep. Loving the feeling of her finally being in my arms where she belongs, but also angry as fuck at Andy for hurting her.
