The Miracle Healer
“You are Allison Parker?” The blonde haired man who sat across from her asked.
“I am.” She replied somewhat nervously.
“Daughter or Chloe and Adam Parker the latter of whom is now deceased?” He asked causing her to flinch slightly at the bluntness of the question.
“I am.” She repeated in the same monotone of voice.
“You are seventeen years old?” The man asked as he scanned the file in his hands.
“Yes.” She replied wondering when this questioning would end.
“That’s all I need to know.” The blonde asked as he stowed away the file in a pocket of his jacket as he stood up. He proceed to walk towards the door to exit the room only to be stopped.
“Wait! Aren’t you going to tell me if he will come?” Allison asked in a slight panicked tone. This brought a small smile to the blonde hair man as he let a small chuckle escape his mouth.
“He will be here within the hour and rest assured that all your problems will vanish.” He said before he exited the room. Allison stared at the door as she thought of his word before she collapsed back in her chair with a sigh of relief. Things may be finally going her way she thought as she gazed at the only other occupant in the room.
The person who she stared at was practically a mirror into Allison’s future. Dark red hair, a small delicate build, and under those closed eyelids were orbs of a brilliant blue. Allison stared sadly at the figure as she thought about her life.
She had lost her farther at the age of three due to some sickness, she didn’t know what it was but had never dared to ask her mother knowing it would bring up memories. His death had forced Allison’s mother into the role of a single mother which she had took on with grace. Never once had Allison heard her mother complain even on those nights where she would return home late from work. Her mother was just like that, too sweet and kind to complain about life especially when she still had her daughter in her life. But all of that had changed just last week when the two of them had gotten into a horrific car accident.
Allison herself had luckily come out of the accident unharmed save for a few scrapes and a concussion but her mother had gotten off a lot worse. Her left leg had practically been shatter, her spine had been fractured, and the worse of all was that she had been knocked into a coma. The doctors had told Allison that even if her mother woke up that her life would be a difficult one as she would not doubt be paralyzed for life. This had caused Allison to try and look up specialist online in a vain hope to try and find someone who could help her mother out.
The results of her search were not favorable as everyone agreed with what the doctors had first told her. This caused Allison to nearly give up all hope until she stumbled upon an article about miracle healer named Soul. From what it said he had never failed to heal someone no matter how serious the injury, a fact in which brought a great deal of hope to Allison. The only problem was that he was very selective about who he healed and had so far refused to divulge his method of healing to anyone leaving many doctors furious. But even they apparently could not deny the success he had with those patients he had chosen to heal.
This is what had led to the earlier series of questions. That blonde haired man was the person who brought potential patients to Soul. He was the person who told Soul who to go to next to preform another one of his miracle healings. As Allison thought about how lucky she was to hear the confirmation of the miracle healer coming she did not notice someone entering the room until that sat in the chair next to her.
The sudden noise of the chair squeaking caused her to panic and blurt out, “Who are you!?” The person did not immediately respond which gave Allison time to take in his appearance. He oddly enough had grey hair and seemed to hold the posture of someone young and confident. The only thing that didn’t agree with this was his eyes which were a dark grey in color and seemed to hole the age of someone far older than her which was funny because not counting his hair and eyes he seemed to be around her age. Noticing she was staring into his eyes and saw that he was staring back she blushed in embarrassment as she looked away.
“I’m sorry but who are you?” She asked wondering why some random guy was in her room and had chosen to sit down.
“I am known by many names but today I am here known as Soul.” He replied causing Allison to do a double take. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing this guy couldn’t be no older than her and yet he was claiming to be the miracle healer who could cure any patient that no doctor could! And yet she found herself believing him as there was no other reason for someone besides herself or another doctor to be in this room.
“You’re the miracle healer?” Allison asked to confirm.
“Is that what I’m being called these days?” He asked with a chuckle. “But yes I am a healer and I assume that you were expecting me?” He asked her in a tone that said he already knew the answer.
“Yes I was, could you please attempt to heal my mother?” She asked.
“I assure you that I will not only attempt but succeed in healing her but shouldn’t you be more cautious about some mysterious person?” He asked.
“I have no choice in being cautious, if you are who you say you are then you’re my mother’s only chance at being healed.” Allison said sincerely. She knew she sounded desperate and it was true. She couldn’t bare life without her mother and after being told there was no chance for her to get better by doctors it had made her willing to try anything.
“I suppose I am.” Soul replied as he stood up and walked over to Allison’s mother. “I was told she had a severed spine and most of the bones are shattered in her leg?” He asked as he gazed down at his patient.
“Yes it happened from a car crash which also sent her into the coma.” Allison replied as she gazed at her mother.
“Well this should be simple enough, definitely much easier than healing a disease.” Soul said to no one in particular as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a pair of black and white gloves.
“How are you going to heal her?” Allison asked as she watched him don the gloves.
“My methods are a secret known to only a select few.” He turned his head towards Allison and asked, “What’s her name?”
“Chloe.” She replied wondering why he wanted to know. He gave a nod at her response as he laid a hand on her mother’s forehead.
“Now don’t be alarmed but when I heal I speak in another language. I assure you it isn’t any kind of satanic, holy, or voodoo witchcraft if you believe in that stuff.” Soul explained to her as he closed his eyes. At first Allison thought he had been joking but when he first started speaking she couldn’t make heads or tails of what of what was being said and then oddly enough she understood every word.
“-and let them purge your body of any ill.” She heard Soul say causing her to wonder what was going on. She heard the words in another language and yet in her mind she understood them as perfect English.
Not having a clue what was going on Allison asked, “What language was that? I had some trouble at the beginning but I understood the last part.” Her question caused Soul’s head to immediately snap to her direction.
“You understood some of that?” He asked his tone laced with a slight bit of caution. At her nod of confirmation Soul walked over to her and looked her in the eyes. “I will say something three times repeat it please.” He told her. Allison wanted to ask what the big deal was but nodded anyway as she saw the serious look in his eyes.
He began to speak again in that strange language and like last time Allison didn’t immediately comprehend it. But partway through the second time she caught some of it, “-and withstood the curse?” Her eyes widened as she heard this and focused to make sure she heard the full version in his final repetition.
After saying it for the last time Allison smile and repeated. “Have you received the blessing and withstood the curse?” She then asked, “What does that mean?” Soul never heard her question as he stared at the girl in front of him in pure shock. It took Allison snapping her fingers in front of his eyes to snap him out of it.
“My apologies, I was merely surprised.” He told her. “I will answer any questions you ask but first let me make sure you’re mother is healed.” Allison blinked in surprise as she had momentarily forgot about the reason Soul was here. She was even more surprised when Soul said he was making sure she was healed because as far as she knew no healing had been done yet.
While she pondered this Soul had already walked over to his patient and laid his hand of her forehead. After a few seconds of contacted he retracted his hand with a small smile gracing his lips. “She has made a full recovery and should be awake by sometime tomorrow.” He informed Allison causing her eyebrows to shoot up to her hairline.
“She’s healed just like that? You did nothing but say a few words to her!” She exclaimed.
“As I said I would answer everything.” Soul replied as he sat in the seat he had sat in when he first entered the room. Silence dominated the room for a few seconds before Soul said, “Well what are you waiting for? Ask away!”
“How did you heal my mother?” Allison asked immediately wanting to know what exactly was going on. Soul let out a chuckle as he thought on how to respond to this.
“That is a loaded question and will take a little bit of back story to answer. But I was able to heal her for the same reason you understood my earlier words.” He stopped speaking for a moment as he thought about the best way to say what was next and finally decided to just be blunt. “I am what is known as a Warden which is basically a human with powers.”
This caused Allison to laugh as such a declaration was hilarious. She however soon stopped laughing when she saw the serious face of Soul had not wavered yet. “You are being serious aren’t you?” Allison asked him wondering if he was delusional.
“Would a physical demonstration be preferable?” He asked her. Allison nodded in response allowing herself to play along with this charade for now. Soul grinned at this and snapped his finger and before Allison could react a black barrier the size of a doorway completely engulfed both her and Soul. The next thing she knew she could hear bird chirping, wind blowing softly, and the warm rays of the sun on her skin.
“Got it you’re not joking,” she managed to stutter out as she passed out from shock.
