“It was a dark and stormy night.”
“No, it wasn’t.”
“Hey, that’s how every good story starts.”
“It was sunny. Stick to the facts.”
“You are no fun.”
“Um…if I may?” the blond girl sitting across from me, whose name I had already forgotten, asked timidly. When we said nothing, she started talking fast. “Sticking to the facts would help a lot. We are not looking to write a novel. We merely want to report facts.”
“Hey, looks like she is a killjoy like you, Damien. She doesn’t want an embellished story,” I said, grinning good humoredly. Damien didn’t deign my comment worthy of a reply.
