Prologue
“I sense it… Do you not as well? Something is about to change, and- I don’t think I’m ready for it,” a black and white mother wolf murmurs.
“Nisshoku… You’ve conquered way more trials than any other wolf…surely we’ll get through this, too… I won’t let them have you…” a dark gray father wolf replies, gently nuzzling his wife.
Fast to sleep, cradled in her mother’s fluffy arms is a little tiny black fluff ball. She’s so young that she only recently learned how to walk. Her tiny little legs are much smaller than a normal wolf’s, but her mother loves her all the same.
“More than just the sun will be eclipsed… The hearts of our fellow animals, too, will be darkened… None will see sense, only duty…” Nisshoku whispers.
It wouldn’t be much longer until the government would rule against them. For the President was a goat, and goats did not favor carnivores…
Sirens blare. Carnivores of all shapes and sizes are on the run. Terror has taken over the city… Nisshoku’s pup, Kurai, has become lost in the crowd.
“RUN! THEY’RE GOING TO CAPTURE US ALL!” a voice yells.
“KURAI! KURAIIIII! WHERE ARE YOU?! KURAI!” Nisshoku screams, frantically searching for her pup.
“MOM! HERE! HELP ME!” Kurai wails, but it’s no use, she gets trampled, lost in the hurry…all is lost…how can any hope remain in a world filled with death and terror?
Great chapter! The pacing felt smooth, and the dialogue between the characters felt natural. You have a story that deserves a wider audience.
