"I don't know what to say. This book is such an emotional roller coaster that at this point I feel kinda numb. The main character just resonates with me so much, especially with the topics of mental health and dark pasts. This story is gritty and unapologetically vulgar which gives it this dark charm that just makes you want to read more. Also, don't be surprised when this story brings up heavy topics (many of them are very much needed in this day and age) and also delves into the darkness of trauma, drug use, self destruction, and criminal life. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading, and you will too. So please, check this story out!"
Gripping
"It's very difficult to write an MC with violent tendencies who is still incredibly sympathetic--and Tyra is that rare MC where it works. The story opens with heavy topics handled tastefully and respectfully, and it leaves you with a well-rounded image of Tyra without a tragic backstory exposition dump. He's not a saint, and he paid for a girl's abortion after finding out she got raped--both things are true. The best characters can hold both. Eager to read more of this! #ICBC"
I'm so into this story
"Immediately we are thrown into a... situation. Tyra is clearly streetwise, clever, and witty, but there's a golden retriever under there - even if it has the teeth of a wolf. He's impulsive in decision, yet very in control of his actions. It makes for an excellent ally, and a terrifying nemesis. Once he's set his sights on you, it doesn't seem as though he'll just let shit slide. The pacing of this story is FAST. We don't do wasted words here. The narration is intense and descriptive enough to feel like you're part of the scene without overwhelming. The prose is incredibly easy to read in the sense that I had whipped through four chapters before I even realized it. Great technical writing skills - no issues that I've seen. I love the short, blunted sentences. That style of writing is definitely in my wheelhouse. The developing frenemies to lovers plot so far is excellent. The interactions between the rich brat, or Princeling as he's affectionately dubbed by Tyra, begin like a match to tinder, and don't lose any of the burn. Their dialogue is snappy and both give as well as they get. I'm stoked to keep reading this one. I love the whole premise so far."
Raw, fresh & engaging!
"This is an extremely well written story! The dialogues and internal thoughts, character development of a morally grey MC with different facets, and overall narrative have a raw, gritty and honest quality that kept me hooked. Of Monsters and Broken Things
"What an emotionally raw and gripping story so far. I absolutely LOVE characters like Tyra. Unapologetic yet understanding. Protective and biting. Not afraid to be himself. I haven’t read much so far, so I will update this review once I finish reading. However, it’s completely compelling so far. The author’s writing is raw making Tyra feel like a real person. I like that this book doesn’t shy away from certain topics or struggles. There’s great suspense naturally built into the chapters. My kind of setting!
"Aight so! Only read one chapter thus far but, this is a book I will come back to for sure once things slow down a bit for me! I simply loved the grit and the dynamics! The style of writing is raw and immersive! You enter this world, you leave with way more than you came for! Other than some great dialogue and internal thoughts, I have not read far enough to have the full picture! Hence, after I do, this review will probably get an update!"

"This is a dark/tortured character done right in my opinion. I was immediately immersed into the main character's world and need to know where his journey takes him. I'll be thinking about the character for a while and trying to reconcile some of the things discussed in the book. The flow and pacing is great, making it quick and easy to read. As I am reading more of the story I have to say that the writing has done so well with an anti-hero vibe. There are so much out that that just romanticise straight up toxic characters and call that dark romance but it's so masterfully done here. Its a story I am so engaged in that I'm glad I read it and would highly recommend. #icbc"
This book will make you uncomfortable--and it's a good thing
"I have to say... I'm impressed. It's not every author that can take a book that is about characters and topics that are so controversial and uncomfortable... and yet it's exceptionally written and leaves you wanting more. From the get go, I was thrust into a world that I have the privilege of never having to understand. And you know what? It made me uncomfortable... but not in a bad way. Instead, it was a way that allowed me to come along for a type of human experience that I've never had before. It made me pause and ask myself the hard questions that I've never had to ask myself before. What would I have done in Tyra's situation? Can I relate to him (and yes I could)? What if this was the type of life I had led? What if I had grown up in a different situation, and had to make different choices? The thing about this book is that it creates a space where there is discomfort... and that's where growth happens. The writing style is excellent, fast-paced, and engaging, drawing me in to the story and immediately allowing me to invest in the character, even if I didn't like his choices. Very well done. #ICBC"

Very fun & unfiltered
"My first LGBTQ book. Don’t regret reading it. I love the writer’s style, the pacing for the story is very well done. The suspense behind certain scenes is what kept me hooked, with the “almost-happened” scenes. It’s interesting how the author managed to pull off more than one plot in parallel, making the story complex and engaging. The author uses this incredibly raw, street-level dialogue (lots of brilliantly placed words like ‘smartass’ and ‘headcase’) that makes the whole thing feel so authentic. A very fun read, definitely worth a try ❤️"
A little grim, but very well written
"The main character's voice is strong, he does have a lot of anger and hatred, but the way his internal monologue is delivered is very intriguing. The story revolves around homophobia, and I can't wait to see how it will develop. I'm glad I discovered this book. #ICBC"
Real, gritty and dark
"Only one chapter in but you really brought the MC to life. The inner dialogue and that rage just under the surface had me on edge the whole time. I don't usually read LGBTQ stories so this is new for me, and it did make me a bit uncomfortable at first, but in a good way — I like when a story takes me out of my comfort zone and lets me experience something different.
