Chapter 1
To the world, Shanghai’s biggest tech industrial tycoon, CEO Yang Chengxi, was seen as a rich, spoiled playboy who loved spending his money on luxury. Everyone thought he was merely a sweet-talking, manipulative heir who is highly calculative, cold young billionaire who could manipulate anyone using his immense power and wealth.
His eyes possessed a depth so profound that it felt as though one could easily drown in them. His lips carried a faint, mysterious smirk that only added to his dangerous charm, making it impossible for anyone to read what was truly in his heart. While people occasionally misunderstood him as a spoiled child, they had no idea who they were messing with—a man capable of destroying his enemies with his sharp-witted mind.
Whispers of his breathtaking handsomeness echoed across the entire continent of Asia. He was, quite literally, the living embodiment of wealth and perfection.
While the press conference buzzed with these hushed whispers, CEO Yang Chengxi finally made his grand entrance onto the stage. The moment he stepped into the room, the entire crowd stood up in unison out of sheer respect. With a cold, subtle smile playing on his lips, he raised his hand slightly, elegantly signaling everyone to take their seats.
He stood there looking incredibly sharp in a tailored black suit. Every strand of his dark hair was perfectly styled and swept back. He wore a pair of sleek, gold-rimmed glasses that partly veiled the deep, intense look in his eyes. On his wrist, a luxury watch shone brightly under the camera flashes, keeping perfect track of time. But hidden deep inside his trouser pocket was his most valuable treasure—a small locket, the last remaining memory of his late parents.
Whenever he felt uneasy or missed them deeply, his hand would slip into his pocket, his fingers tightly gripping the cold metal to calm his nerves. After composing his emotions, he signaled the media to begin asking questions, while a strong team of police officers and guards stood alert around the hall.
Just then, Chengxi’s uncle, Mr. Yang Jinhai, stepped forward and tried to walk onto the stage. Chengxi’s sharp eyes locked onto him immediately. In a voice that sounded polite yet freezing cold, he spoke into the microphone, "Mr. Yang Jinhai, this press conference is arranged exclusively for the CEO of Yang Groups. I don’t think anyone else needs to be up here."
His uncle burned with rage but had no choice but to quietly step back into the crowd. Seeing the opening, reporters quickly started throwing questions. "Good evening, Mr. Yang Chengxi! Our question is about your company's big new project. Will this project help our country, and can you share its blueprint with us today?"
A faint smile appeared on Chengxi’s face. Looking straight into the reporter's eyes, he replied, "If you have checked our track record, you must know that all of our projects are designed solely for the country's benefit. As for the blueprint, you will get to see the entire model in just a few days. Just be ready for the surprise.
"Right at that moment, Chengxi’s loyal secretary, Xiao Li Jun, came running inside. He bowed quickly in front of Chengxi and whispered something into his ear in a panicked, trembling voice.
Hearing the news, Chengxi’s expression turned dead serious. Yet, he remained standing there, completely still and calm, as a heavy, suffocating silence filled the entire room. Everyone held their breath.
Suddenly, the loud, crashing sound of the conference hall doors bursting open echoed through the room.
A team of police officers marched into the hall, and instantly, every single camera turned toward them. Then, a deep, soft, yet commanding voice pulled everyone's attention, including Chengxi A highly handsome, rough-and-tough senior police officer stepped forward. He was wearing a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, looking incredibly dashing. His slightly messy hair and sharp eyes looked capable of reading through anyone instantly.
Looking straight at Chengxi, he said, "CEO Yang Chengxi, you might be bringing benefits to the country, but perhaps you are forgetting about the very people who make those benefits possible. Do you even have any idea that your chief designer has been murdered...?"
The moment those words left his mouth, a wave of panic and whispers broke out everywhere. Everyone's eyes turned toward Chengxi.
For a fraction of a second, Chengxi’s intense eyes widened in sheer shock, but before anyone could catch it, his cold, unreadable mask was back in place. His jaw tightened, and he stood tall, his breathing perfectly controlled. Meanwhile, behind him, a wicked, disgusting smile played on the lips of his uncle, Yang Jinhai, Stepping forward with fake sympathy and fear, he said, "Officer, what are you saying?
How can you put such a terrible blame on our CEO?"Chengxi stepped down from the stage. Looking emotionlessly into the officer's eyes, he said, "Uncle Jinhai, you do not need to worry about me. No such blame has been put on me yet." Turning his attention back to the officer, he added, "And Officer, regarding the murder, no one in the company knew anything about this. Where exactly did you get this news from?"
"One of your own staff members called and informed us, Mr. Yang," said Officer Jiang Wei, the senior officer su yehan's colleague and close friend.
"Mr. Yang Chengxi, would you like to come and check the chief designer's cabin?" Jiang Wei added.
All this time, the media was recording the events live. Some reporters, who were secretly bought by Yang Jinhai, were already trying to twist the narrative to make Chengxi look guilty.
Seeing this, the senior officer, Su Yehan, stepped in and commanded firmly, "We have strict orders from our police station. Until the investigation is complete, it will be best if the media and all reporters stay far away from Yang Industries. Otherwise, we will take legal action against you."
Hearing this, Chengxi locked eyes with Su Yehan. A cold smile played on his lips as he remarked, "Since when did your police department start caring so much about our company, Officer?"
Su Yehan flashed a carefree smile and replied, "The police are here to protect and care for everyone, Mr. Yang Chengxi. In our eyes, and in our line of duty, no one is too small or too big. There is only justice, and justice is above everything else."
Chengxi offered only a subtle, faint smile in response. Seizing the opportunity, Su Yehan instantly commanded his team to block all exits, making sure no one could flee the building. Under close watch, every media representative was meticulously searched before being permitted to leave the spot.
Soon after, the police started searching and questioning the rest of the staff members. Since the company had a massive number of employees, a large force of police officers was deployed across the building to handle the situation. Meanwhile, Chengxi, along with his core staff, walked toward the crime scene, accompanied by Su Yehan and Jiang Wei.
Everyone had now gathered at the crime scene, a heavy sense of fear gripping the room. It was 7:30 in the evening. Outside, dark rain clouds were slowly gathering, accompanied by the low, distant rumble of thunder. Through the massive glass windows of the building, the weather looked unusually dark and menacing.
Everyone's eyes were fixed on the lifeless body lying on the floor. Deep down, Chengxi had always respected and admired the chief designer's brilliant work. Mr. Shen's sudden death left him deeply shocked, especially after learning that the old man had wanted to meet him urgently to hand over something important.
However, due to the busy press conference, Chengxi hadn't been able to find the time. Chief Designer Shen had been incredibly loyal to Chengxi’s late father, standing by him through thick and thin, and he held the exact same respect for Chengxi. Though Chengxi never openly showed it, he respected the old man just as much.
Suddenly, a dark thought crossed Chengxi’s mind: Could his uncle be behind this? Before he could think any further, Su Yehan’s voice snapped him back to reality. "Mr. Yang Chengxi, I am asking you something," Su Yehan said, his eyes locked onto him. "Did Mr. Shen have any enemies, or did he show any unusual behavior? Did he talk to you about anything before this happened?"
Chengxi replied coldly, "No, Officer. I stay extremely busy with my schedule. I don’t have time for anyone's personal matters."
"How can you be so heartless, Mr. Yang?" Su Yehan said, his voice rising with anger. elderly man who worked night and day for your company has been murdered."
Hearing this, Chengxi let out a deep breath. With a completely cold and emotionless face, he said, "Officer, he was well-compensated for working night and day for me. And as for his family, they will receive enough money to live comfortably for the rest of their lives. I am a CEO, not some ordinary police officer who keeps track of everyone's personal business."
Hearing Chengxi's taunt, Su Yehan’s temper flared, his eyes burning with visible anger. Stepping close to Chengxi, he looked straight into his eyes and said in a low, dangerous voice, "You might not be a police officer, Mr. Yang, but have you forgotten that you are at least a human?"
Right then, a voice called out from behind, "Officer Yehan, look over here! There is something written on the dead body’s hand."The wicked smile instantly vanished from Uncle Yang Jinhai’s face, and he grew tense. Su Yehan and Chengxi immediately rushed toward the body. Su Yehan knelt down to inspect Mr. Shen’s hands. Some numbers were written there, but because the fists were tightly clenched, the ink had smudged slightly.
Chengxi also got down on his knees. Su Yehan pointed out the numbers on the victim's hand, and Chengxi began analyzing them with absolute intensity.
The numbers looked terrifyingly familiar to him. In fact, he knew exactly what they meant. It was a date—the exact date of the horrific accident that had snatched both his mother and father away from him. For a split second, Chengxi’s face went completely pale—a sudden shift that did not escape Su Yehan's sharp eyes.
"Mr. Yang, as the CEO, do you happen to know anything about this?" Su Yehan questioned. Chengxi quickly stood up, shooting a sharp glance toward his uncle, who was desperately trying to get a peek at those numbers. "Yes, Chengxi, tell us. Do you know anything about these numbers?" Mr. Yang Jinhai asked, pretending to be curious.
Putting his cold mask back on, Chengxi adjusted his glasses and replied emotionlessly, "No. I know nothing about this."Su Yehan stared deeply at him for a moment. "Very well, CEO Yang. If you remember anything, do let us know." Chengxi gave a subtle nod in response. Turning to his colleague, Su Yehan commanded, "Officer Jiang, hand this body over to the forensic department. It is time for us to speak to his family."

😍😍😍
amazing
Hmm... That was... Interesting. This is a very different genre and style of writing than what I'm used to, to be completely honest. To me, it read as if I was watching the first episode of a K-drama. It was fast paced with a few details sprinkled in for context. Also, it was all in thrid person, again nothing wrong with that, just not my personal prefference. I do know a lot of people like the billionaire romance trope here so, as long as you stay consistent, you'll do fine!
