Rocky start, uneven execution.

"Couldn't make it past chapter one, unfortunately. The opening has real potential - a massacre survivor crawling to safety is a strong hook - but the delivery leans too hard on one-line sentence fragments for effect, which gets tiring fast when it's the primary tool instead of the occasional one. There's also a tonal whiplash between the trauma on the page and the offhand jokes in the author's notes right after, which made it hard to stay grounded in the character's pain. Some solid physical writing in the fall-down-the-stairs scene, but a lot of emotional beats ("Ruin. It stirs, restless and dangerous.") tell rather than show. Needs a tighter edit pass on cliches ("staring into the sun," "firm, unyielding") and more trust in the reader to feel tension without a fragment announcing it."
