All Rights Reserved ©

Summary

Nerd, check. Outcast, check. Feverish and suddenly wanting to bite the queen bee at my new high school, CHECK. Grimwold is new to Everwood high and that never bodes well for a nerd. However, being scratched by the popular girl and subsequently developing the strangest of urges–to bite her, to maul any jocks that come near her, to stare at every full moon for example– takes the cake. Olivia has all the answers but refuses to even look in his direction, fleeing every room they happen to share. But this nerd is different from the boys at Everwood high and far better equipped for the chase.

Prologue: The Nerd's Diary

Dear Diary,

I am an outcast once again.

At least in Oakwood, some of the other nerds spoke to me from time to time. Here in Everwood, I’m invisible.

We only have a few months left of senior year, though, and I don’t expect much change in the way of my social life.

The only strange thing to happen to me this year is something I can’t stop thinking about. I had this gut feeling on my first day at school. Then, I saw her.

She was so beautiful… I could have drooled on the spot. She looked at me, saw me, and she took a step toward me… but then she didn’t. Ever again.

That’s the last time she looked at me. I’m probably delusional, but it’s like any time she walks into a room that I’m in, once she realizes, she turns around and can’t get away fast enough.

Then there’s the little—not-little-at-all thing that happened after school last Friday. She scratched me.

I’m pretty sure the wound is infected. I don’t actually feel sick, but I’m hot all the time, and sometimes I swear it feels like my skin is being pricked by a million needles at once. I explained that to the local nurse, and she recommended I stay away from drugs. Then, she made me give her a urine sample in case it was somehow an STD causing the symptoms.

Um, yeah... so I’m back to diary entries to keep track of time since I’m pretty sure I’ve started blacking out.

Salud?

Lillipad0234: Teenagers making silly mistakes and then realising what they’ve lost. There are a few dramas along the way, but the characters feel realistic and the storyline is believable. Bargara4670: This was a refreshingly different love story. Both Hadleigh and Grant were strong and likeable characters. It was satisfying to see their relationship develop. I wonder if this story will be the first in a series. I would be interested to find out if Marina is bonded.
