Ever since I played the first Silent Hill back in the summer of ’99, I have been a fan of horror stories involving liminal spaces.

Movies like the cult classic The Cube and books like Mark Z. Danielewski’s House of Leaves have cemented my passion for these kinds of stories.

This book is my love letter to that subgenre of horror.

What I’m trying to say is that if you like the unnerving vibe and creepiness of phenomena such as The Backrooms, this book is for you.

Summary

This is where music dies, and nightmares come alive! Phoenix Novak and his friends never imagined that Rosewood Music School would become their worst nightmare. But when an AI experiment goes horribly wrong, the school transforms into a twisted labyrinth where a sinister online ghost stalks its students. As Phoenix delves deeper into the chilling mysteries hidden within Rosewood’s eerie halls, he discovers that the danger lurking there is more real—and more terrifying—than anyone could have ever imagined. Now, Phoenix and his friends must face their fears and unravel the truth before they become the next victims of Rosewood’s deadly secrets. Anyway, I guess I’ll start this by saying goodbye. Chances are that if you come looking for me, I won’t be here anymore—or I will be, but ... You know what? Why don’t we rewind to the day the world started to end? My friend Jake (I miss him) called it The Squall.

For some, that storm meant nothing more than a minor inconvenience. For others, it meant losing their homes or their businesses. For me, it meant losing everything.

I died that day, but didn’t realize it until a few weeks later.

Please don’t be scared. It’s not like I’m a zombie or anything like that. My name is Phoenix Novak, and I’m a voice inside your head.
