"This chapter is such a masterclass in tension through restraint, Jonah sitting there like granite while Jack monologues, and that ticking countdown to the phone call had me holding my breath! Adrian's subplot underneath hit hardest for me though, watching him pull back from total destruction because of Nicole and Daniel's memory says so much without over-explaining. Such a tense, well-crafted chapter! 🖤"

"I went in expecting a broken marriage story. Wife starved for love, affair, the usual. About 2 chapters in the floor dropped out from under me. It’s actually a dark spy thriller with mafia threads running through it. And it’s smart. Every move feels planned, like a chess game. There’s action, a car chase, constant intrigue... but the thing that stuck with me is how dark it is underneath. The MC’s old job wrecked his family, and the book doesn’t pretend people in that world get to have love or a normal life. They’re always hunted. Always one step ahead or they don’t survive. Only note: the POV jumps fast between characters and the chapters felt a bit jarring at first. Took me a chapter or two to find the rhythm. Once I did though, it made everything more tense. So far it’s brutal, layered, and I’m hooked. Can’t wait to keep reading. "

"I’m still so torn between Nicole and Adrian. As cold and emotionally distant as Adrian is, he was still a faithful husband and never betrayed their marriage. At the same time, I completely understand Nicole’s loneliness. Imagine being with someone who’s physically there but feels so emotionally out of reach. It’s easy to see how she became vulnerable when someone else came along and made her feel seen, valued, and alive again. Still, as much as I empathize with her, I can’t ignore the fact that cheating was a choice. Loneliness explains why it happened, but it doesn’t justify it. I really appreciate that the story isn’t painting either of them as purely right or wrong. It’s making me understand both sides, and that’s what keeps me invested. I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing how everything unfolds and how this story ultimately ends."
