Hampton Point feels eerie and almost alive, and the descriptions of the house, swamp, fog, and locked rooms created such a haunting sense of mystery. Susannah is also a fascinating protagonist—I love how observant, intelligent, and determined she is. The revelation that she deliberately married into the Butler family because she suspects murder immediately made me want to know what happened to Margaret and the other women before her."
