Summary

Katelyn Bennett is a nurse at Bayview Memorial. Trying to focus solely on her job and not on the new hot sexy doctor Alastair. Dominic Alastair is a Doctor who has moved from Italy to Greece. His primary focus is on his job, until he meets her.

The New Doctor...

~Katelyn~

Walking to work is always a struggle for me, especially when there's creepy men roaming the streets at nine in the morning, trying to do something definitely illegal. I stare at the floor as I continue my journey to the hospital that has me in a choke hold and in a deathly grip. Continuing my descent toward the hospital, I notice another pair of feet come up next to me and look up to make eye contact with my best friend and only friend, Sebastian McNally. "Ready for our brutalising shift at Bayview Memorial?" Sebastian asks, eyes glimmering with mischief.

I glare at him in annoyance and say, "Hey, you know you're going to be there too. What's got you so excited for today?" I scoff and roll my eyes as he lets out a laugh.

"Do you really not know Katelyn?" He lurches forward slightly, grabbing me by the arms and shaking me. "There's a new doctor starting in our department! And I heard he's seriously hot."

I scoff, moving around him to continue walking. "And who has said this 'new doctor' is hot exactly?" I ask as he rushes to catch up with me.

"That's not the point. The point is a new, hot, sexy doctor is starting in our department and someone could dig their claws into him." He rants, his hands making weird gestures. I know exactly who he's talking about, Courtney Kingston. She's basically the mean girl in our department.

I laugh at what he says and cross my arms facing him, "And what exactly do you want me to do about that Seb?" I ask as he stops in front of me.

"I don't know?" He whines, crossing his arms like the dramatic baby I know he is. "Just look at him and see what I've heard." He continues walking as we reach the hospital.

Sighing, I run up to him and nudge his arm, "Are you worried that Carlos is going to be into him?" I ask and nudge his arm again. He scowls at me and walks further into the hospital. "Hey, I'm sorry!" I giggle and give him a hug from behind.

"You're not forgiven." He mumbles as he begins to change into his nursing uniform. I sigh and do the same. Sebastian slid his belongings into his locker as I did the same and sighs, "I'm sorry Lyn." He murmurs, eyes locking on mine, "I didn't mean to get so... dramatic."

Smiling, I walk up to him and hug him, "Promise me we'll always be best friends." I whisper, eyes looking up at him.

"Promise little Lyn." He says, making me giggle. "Let's get to the centre." I nod as he guides me out of the locker room.

Walking down the corridor, we chat about random things and he smiles when I say something stupid. Entering the centre, we hear the charge nurse begin. "Hello nurses and doctors, Welcome chief of the department, Dominic Alastair."

The nurses clap whilst I just slowly clap, making eye contact with him. "Thank you Penelope. I want you all to know that I'm here to help you and this department, If anyone witnesses anything or someone does something, you report it to me."

Everyone nods whilst I just stare at him. He stares back and it feels so damn intense. "Uh, Katelyn?" I snap out of It and turn to Sebastian.

"Hmm?" I look at him and he smirks.

Smirking, he nudges my arm and whispers, "You like him. And it sure looks like he likes you too." He turns my face back towards back towards Doctor Alastair. When I look, I see he's still staring at me, this time with his eyes dark and mysterious. It's like I can't even read him.

Gasping, I turn toward Sebastian and slap his arm, "I do not." I say as everyone begins to disperse to do their jobs. I walk off to grab the chart of I patient I need to check on from my last shift when Sebastian grabs my arm.

"It's not the end of the world. Remember when I liked Carlos and you bullied me into getting with him? This is exactly the same." He insists as I move down the bay of rooms to my patients one.

"One; I did not bully you into it. Two; Shut up." I grumble as I continue into my patients room. "Hello Mrs. Lupita, I just want to check up on your blood pressure. Is that okay?" I ask as I grab the blood pressure machine. She nods and I place the machine around her bicep. It pumps and when it finishes, I look at the number. "Shit." I mutter, turning to Sebastian, "Her blood pressure is 180/120." I press the coding button to get the doctors attention.

"What's going on." Mrs. Lupita asks as I lower her bed flat.

I look into her eyes and murmur, "Mrs. Lupita. Wilma, can I call you that?" She nods and I continue, "Please, Wilma, stay calm. We're here to help."

"Okay what's happening?" I hear someone say behind me and I begin.

"Wilma Lupita has a blood pressure of 180/120, she's extremely hypertensive." I reply and turn to see Doctor Alastair behind me.

He comes around me and checks her pulse. "Okay we need to move. Now!" He yells and I move back as they wheel her out of the room.

"That was insane Lyn." Sebastian rubs my arms. "Are you okay?" He asks and I nod.

"I'm fine..."

...

At lunch, Sebastian and I sit in the cafeteria and eat. He eats a sandwich whilst I snack on a muesli bar. I nibbled on it slowly, trying not to eat too much as memories of my mother flood through me. 'You're too fat' to 'You need to lose some damn weight, I can practically see your lumps.' She used to say I'd never get a husband with the way I look and I believe her.

"Are you sure your not hungry?" Sebastian asks, leaning across the table to snatch my bar.

I groan and look at him, "You ask me this all the time and what's the answer Seb?"

"Yes I'm sure. I've had a heavy breakfast." He mimics, waving his hands around as he slides it back to me. "Katelyn, you always say that. I'm starting to not believe you."

"You don't have to believe me Sebastian. You really don't. IT'S FINE!" I yell, causing every pair of eyes in the cafeteria to turn to us. I get up and walk away, not wanting to be the gossip of the hospital.

"Katelyn wait!" Sebastian yells after me but I don't stop.
