☆Nori☆
My alarm went off loudly at 5 in the morning; today was the day that I would be moving away for college, out of this town that made me regret all of my life decisions. The only good aspect of living in this hell-hole was my hot neighbor Ren, he was a jock who was forced into basketball by his dad, the coach of the high school team. Ren was actually one of the only people who was nice to me growing up, and he shared his drawings with me. They were anime styled and very detailed. He once told me that he was going to be a painter, and sculptor for museums when he graduated college. As for me, I was going to be an astronomer. I am going to the University of Washington in Seattle. It is only 2 hours away, but it is one of the best schools I've researched. I have liked Ren since childhood when I saw him playing baseball outside, and then drawing the house across the street in detail during his water break. I decided that if I saw him today I was going to tell him the truth, since it would be the last time I saw him until the holidays. I got out of bed, and slipped on a white t-shirt to go with my pajama pants. I finished packing my totes of clothing, and the rest of my stupid life in this town, and then I ate a small bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios and started hauling all of my stuff to my car. I was struggling and Ren noticed from his car, he then got out and started helping me. I thanked him and then once everything was in my car I asked to talk to him for a moment. “Ren, so we have known each other since childhood, but I haven't been entirely truthful about who I liked,” I stammered.
“Oh, um well that's okay Nori,” he said, “I haven't either,”
“So I know that we are both going off to college and we won't see each other until the holidays, and I just wanted to tell you who I really like instead of Tina Wesley like I told you,” I said.
“Well if that's what we're doing then how about we say who we really like on the count of three,” he said wanting to tell me too.
“3…2…1,” we both counted down.
“I like you!” We both said at the same time.
“Wait what?” I said breaking the silence.
“I like you Nori, I have since we were 15,” he said.
“You have?” I said in pure confusion.
“Yes,” he said, and then he kissed me. My thoughts were going 1,000 miles a minute but I kissed him back. Once the kiss was over I asked him what this meant for us, and he asked me if I would be his boyfriend, obviously I said yes and then we kissed again. Not knowing when we would see each other again I asked for his number as we never exchanged them even though we had been friends forever. He gave it to me and then I texted him a kiss emoji. He texted me back a heart-eyed emoji, and we said goodbye before we both left for college. I was so excited I got into my car and called my best friend from summer camp Heidi Chu.
Heidi: Hello? Why are you calling me? It's only 6 am.
Nori: Heidi you know how I have had a crush on my next-door-neighbor for years now.
Hedi: Yeah, Ren right?
Nori: Yes, well he's um my boyfriend now.
Heidi: WHAT when did this happen?
Nori: Just now.
Heidi: Tell me everything.
I pulled out of the driveway as I explained how I wanted to tell Ren how I felt, and then he kissed me once we both admitted it, and how he asked me to be his boyfriend.
Heidi: Do you even know where he is going for college, long distance can be hard.
Nori: No I don't, but we can make it work. We just admitted our feelings after 3 years of being friends, and now we are dating.
Heidi: Okay well I gotta go. I have class in an hour and I want more sleep.
Nori: Okay, just don't miss class.
Heidi: I know, good luck with your roommate.
Nori: Thanks, have a good nap.
I forgot that I would have a roommate, but it's okay as long as they respect me then it would be okay. Right? The rest of the drive was loud with my thoughts piling up over the music.
