Stranded By Magic

Prologue

Rain hammered against the library windows as Jasper stormed through the empty aisles, his fists clenched.

Jasper:

“How could you do this to me, Charlotte?!”

Charlotte:

“Jasper, please… listen to me.”

Jasper:

“No! You told me you loved me. Was all of that fake?”

Enzo leaned quietly against a bookshelf nearby, watching the argument unfold with worried eyes.

Charlotte:

“It wasn’t fake…”

Jasper:

“Then why him? Why Enzo?”

Charlotte looked down, unable to answer immediately.

Jasper:

“You love my best friend instead of me?”

Enzo:

“Jasper, calm down—”

Jasper:

“Stay out of this!”

The silence felt heavier than the storm outside.

Charlotte:

“I never wanted to hurt you.”

Jasper:

“But you did.”

Jasper turned and walked toward the exit.

Charlotte:

“Jasper, wait!”

He stopped at the doorway without looking back.

Jasper:

“What?”

Charlotte:

“I’m leaving the city.”

Jasper’s eyes widened in shock.

Chapter One

Monday Morning

Thunder rumbled outside Jasper’s bedroom while he searched everywhere for his school tie.

Jasper:

“Where is it?!”

His cat Missy jumped onto the bed with the tie hanging from her mouth.

Jasper:

“Missy! Seriously?”

Downstairs, his mother yelled from the kitchen.

Jasper’s Mom:

“Jasper! Breakfast!”

Jasper:

“I’m coming!”

He grabbed the tie and hurried downstairs.

Kitchen Scene

The smell of pancakes filled the room.

Jasper’s Mom:

“You’ve been distracted lately.”

Jasper:

“I’m fine.”

Jasper’s Mom:

“Mhm. And I’m a wizard.”

Jasper laughed softly for the first time that morning.

Jasper’s Mom:

“Does this have something to do with Charlotte?”

Jasper froze.

Jasper:

“…Maybe.”

Chapter Two

School Hallway

Students rushed through the halls while Prudence and Myan stood beside Jasper’s locker.

Prudence:

“You look terrible.”

Myan:

“She means emotionally.”

Jasper:

“Thanks. That helps a lot.”

Suddenly, Enzo appeared.

Tall. Calm. Confident.

Enzo:

“We need to talk.”

Rooftop Scene

Wind blew across the rooftop as Enzo leaned against the railing.

Enzo:

“You think Charlotte and I betrayed you.”

Jasper:

“Didn’t you?”

Enzo:

“No.”

Jasper:

“Then explain.”

Enzo sighed.

Enzo:

“Charlotte liked you first.”

Jasper:

“What?”

Enzo:

“She still does.”

Jasper stared at him silently.

Enzo:

“She pushed you away because she thought you liked me.”

Jasper:

“…Maybe I did.”

Enzo blinked in surprise before smiling slightly.

Enzo:

“So it’s true.”

Jasper:

“You’re not exactly easy to ignore.”

The two laughed awkwardly.

Chapter Three

The Almost Romance

Over the next few weeks, Jasper and Enzo became closer.

They walked home together. Played games together. Shared secrets under city lights.

Arcade Scene

Enzo:

“You know… I’m bisexual.”

Jasper:

“Me too.”

Enzo smirked.

Enzo:

“That explains a lot.”

Jasper:

“Yeah.”

For a moment, everything felt simple.

Festival Night

Lanterns glowed across the night sky during the school festival.

Enzo:

“So… what are we?”

Jasper:

“I don’t know.”

Enzo looked nervous for once.

Enzo:

“I think I like you.”

Jasper smiled softly.

Jasper:

“I think I like you too.”

They held hands as fireworks exploded overhead.

Chapter Four

The Truth

A few months later…

Charlotte returned to the city.

Jasper found her sitting alone at the library steps.

Charlotte:

“I heard about you and Enzo.”

Jasper:

“Yeah…”

Charlotte:

“Are you happy?”

Jasper hesitated.

Jasper:

“I thought I was.”

Later That Night

Enzo sat beside Jasper under the stars.

Enzo:

“You love her, don’t you?”

Jasper:

“I…”

Enzo:

“It’s okay.”

Jasper:

“You’re not mad?”

Enzo:

“No. Honestly… I think we were trying to heal each other.”

Jasper looked down sadly.

Enzo:

“And besides…”

He smiled warmly.

Enzo:

“She’s my sister. I know how amazing she is.”

Final Chapter

Endgame

Weeks later, Charlotte met Jasper by the riverside.

Charlotte:

“So… where does this leave us?”

Jasper stepped closer.

Jasper:

“With honesty this time.”

Charlotte:

“You still want me after everything?”

Jasper:

“I never stopped.”

Charlotte smiled with tears in her eyes.

Charlotte:

“Then don’t let go again.”

Jasper gently held her hand.

Across the bridge, Enzo watched them together with a peaceful smile while Prudence and Myan teased him nearby.

Myan:

“You okay?”

Enzo:

“Yeah.”

Prudence:

“You sure?”

Enzo:

“They found each other.”

The wind carried the sound of laughter through the city as the sunset glowed behind them.
