In the Beginning | Story Notes
1.) Takes place not long after the events of The Mandalorian and Grogu (about eight years after the events of Return of the Jedi, twenty-two years before The Force Awakens.
- Main Emotional Conflicts: Like what The Mandalorian is known for… the parental connection between Mando and Grogu.
- After almost losing Mando/Din Djarin, Din Grogu has become overly worried about Mando. However, Mando is unaware (since he’s not familiar with the Force and is still learning to be a parent) and thinks that Grogu’s slacking off and shift in attitude (becoming clingier) is because maybe he’s not ready to be a parent after all.
- Worried about Grogu, Mando seeks out Jedi Master Luke Skywalker to help him out again. He brings Rotta the Hutt with him, not because Rotta wants revenge, but because he’s curious about the brother of the sister who murdered Jabba the Hutt—and because he’s curious about the Jedi and the Force.
- At first, Luke is hesitant after learning who Rotta is, and he must learn to warm up to him to help Mando and Grogu properly. This hesitation extends to the external conflict posed by a new, hidden threat in the galaxy enabled by technological advances.
2.) External Conflict Prompts:
- “Criminals and dissidents undergo illegal genetic therapy to change their DNA so the government has no record of them (good for a bounty hunter story like The Mandalorian).”
- “Medical researchers are attempting to bring people back to life after they’ve been dead for thirty minutes or even an hour and give them a full recovery. Their experimentation is unethical and/leads to strange alterations to people’s brains (can tie in The Rise of Skywalker later).”
- Moral Lesson: Technology cannot overshadow the love a parent has for their child, or the child for their parent.
- Din Djarin’s ship is still the Razor Quest, and Zeb is still his main wingman/co-pilot.
- The MCs with the most character development will be Mando, Grogu, and Luke (typical for my stories—three main characters). No romance, just a story about a bounty hunter and his kid with a space western/opera twist.
Logline:
When a hidden enemy rises from the ashes of the galaxy, Mando and Grogu embark on an adventure with Luke Skywalker and Rotta the Hutt to defeat the threat, as well as restore their unstable emotions after the Dragonsnake.
Summary:
After almost dying to the Dragonsnake a few months ago, Mando has noticed a shift in Grogu’s behavior; he’s overprotective and slacking off from training, clinging to him almost every second. Fearing that he’s failing as a parent, Mando seeks out Jedi Master Luke Skywalker for help, since Grogu trained with him for a little while, and brings Rotta the Hutt with him, to Luke’s hesitation.
While with Luke, a mysterious bounty request reaches Mando, sending the team on a new adventure across the galaxy to discover a hidden world of the ex-Galactic Empire, where technology is used for unethical purposes in an attempt to regain power.
Mando and his team must now find the mastermind behind this new organization before darkness spreads across the galaxy, and Mando and Grogu lose contact with The Way forever.
