Hello, Vice President
Michael Frisky the new vice president of the Pavlov Bank and Co. rushes out of the elevator on the sixth floor of the seven floors of the office building, heading straight for his office. His excitement for the day obvious in his walking, his sharp, powerful, confident strides, and the way he greets everyone he passes with a winning, charming smile— the type that makes you just want to buy whatever he is selling and even if he is not selling, you would be ready to wait till whenever he will be.
He moves with the confidence of a man who always gets whatever he wants. The type of man with a computer-sharp mind, winning attitude, alpha wolf instincts and a total shark when it comes to everything banking business. And on top of all that— that simply makes him ruthless in banking and a great asset to his company— he is a dangerously handsome man with chiseled features, impressive beard that is just the right length and cut, winning hairline and healthy hair, broad chest, strong arms and a physique that is built like a Greek god statue, with good height at 6”2.
He is not only invaluable to the Pavlov Bank & Co. but he has also been described by the female staff populace as the ultimate eye candy. A perfect gentleman indeed, because despite all his qualities, he is a charismatic man who genuinely cares about others. This interest in others also greatly contributes to his success, just like in the deal he won for the company yesterday. That beautiful win yesterday also adds to his excitement this morning, he is high on the win and that spurs him on.
“Mr Frisky” Nikita, his pretty, young secretary calls as he makes to enter his office.
“Yes, Nikita. Good morning” he smiles at the pretty blonde. She smiles, as all women do when he smiles at them.
Shaking her head, she remembers why she called to him, “Good morning, sir. Sir, Mr Pavlov has asked that you see him once you come in”
“Oh, is that so?” Michael asks, beaming brighter as he is certain his boss must want to see him and congratulate him on the success of yesterday’s deal. “Well, thank you. I will go to him right away”
Nikita nods, “Okay, sir” and returns to her desk.
Michael makes his way to his boss’s office, the only office on the seventh and highest floor.
“Good morning, sir” he greets as he opens the door slightly. His middle aged, five foot tall, potbellied boss and the president of Pavlov Co, the friendly, jolly but shark minded businessman Mr Ivanov Pavlov, looks instantly happier and excited as he tells him to come in.
“Michael, Michael, oh do have a sit, my boy!” Mr Ivanov says with childish excitement, bouncing on his high chair— his chair, like the rest of his office, is mega-sized and his legs do not touch the ground. “I heard what a success yesterday was, congratulations!”
“Thank you, sir” Michael smiles, proud that he is able to make his boss this excited, as he takes his seat on one of the chairs before Mr Ivanov’s massive desk.
“Oh, I knew I did not make a mistake promoting you to Vice President despite you being just a few months with us. Best thing I ever did!”
“In just two months, sir” Michael corrects modestly, it is the pinnacle of his career after all. To be promoted to the vice president of a company like Pavlov Co or even any company in just two months of working with the company, is a big feat. One Michael doesn’t take lightly. “And I am very grateful to you, sir, for trusting me with the responsibilities of such a position”
“You are yet to fail me” Mr Ivanov laughs, in his carefree, wild way, Michael joins in because of course it is his boss and he is in his office. Sobering up, Mr Ivanov says, “And I believe you won’t. Why don’t we have a drink to celebrate the most recent success”
Mr Ivanov is already pouring two glasses of scotch and Michael has no chance to refuse before the older man pushes a glass to him. Mr Ivanov drinks from his glass and Michael is about to lift his to his lips when the door opens and someone steps in.
“Ah! There she is, my darling!” Mr Ivanov exclaims, smiling brightly at the new person in the office, causing Michael to turn around to see who this person is. And as he does so, he forgets how to breathe, his heart stops for a moment.
Who is this light-caramel skinned, tall, slender, sexy, beautiful goddess in his boss’ office?
Mr Ivanov called her darling, but she couldn’t be Mrs Ivanov, then who is she?
“I am so sorry, I am late, dad” the woman says, making her way over to the desk.
Michael’s jaw nearly drops to the ground. He likes his boss and has no bad thoughts against the man, but how does the man look like that and his daughter looks like some drop dead gorgeous model on the cover of some top magazine?
“Michael,” his boss calls to him causing him to turn his attention back to the man, good thing he is not drooling or making a fool of himself. “This is my daughter, Miss Viktoria Pavlova, the youngest and most beautiful board member of Pavlov Co. See how she looks just like me?” Mr Ivanov says with a proud fatherly smile, referring to his daughter who has just taken the seat by Michael. And honestly, Michael cannot see how the man’s daughter looks just like him.
“Oh dad,” Viktoria blushes, then turning to Michael, she says with a smile that has Michael’s heart beating faster, “Oh please bear with me, he loves to flatter me”
“Though he is speaking as a proud father, I see no lie in what he just said” Michael replies smoothly as his eyes go over her face in approving appraisal. She smiles in return, and in his head, Michael records his first win of the day.
“I see you two are already getting along” Mr Ivanov claps in a jolly fashion, “That’s good, because you both would be working together very soon” Michael wonders what exactly he means by that. The boss continues, “My dear, say hello to Michael Frisky, Pavlov CO’s very own vice president”
Michael turns to Miss Pavlova with a smile, he is not a proud man but he has some pride in what he has been blessed to accomplish. All of a sudden, Viktoria has turned cold, her eyes and even her voice is cold as she says, “So you are the vice president”
“I see you two are already getting along” Mr Ivanov claps in a jolly fashion, “That’s good, because you both would be working together very soon” Michael wonders what exactly he means by that. The boss continues, “My dear, say hello to Michael Frisky, Pavlov CO’s very own vice president”
Michael turns to Miss Pavlova with a smile, he is not a proud man but he has some pride in what he has been blessed to accomplish. All of a sudden, Viktoria has turned cold, her eyes and even her voice is cold as she says, “So you are the vice president”
Michael was taken aback wondering what caused her sudden cold demeanor, she was smiling at him less than a minute ago. They had started off on the right foot.
“Yes, that is me” he says to her, “Do you have a problem with that?”
“I don’t know,” she replies, confidently holding his gaze with her cold, calculating eyes, “Would I have a problem with that? Or would you only prove me right in my assumptions about you?”
“What assumptions?” Michael asks, “You have only just met me and you already have assumptions about me”
“For some time now, I have had my assumptions about the new vice president who has not a bad word about him and somehow managed to become the vice president within two months of being a part of the company” she says, “And it just so happens that you are that vice president. Nothing personal, Michael”
Michael is surprised by her open hostility and wonders what assumptions she has about him. He has no dirt on him, nothing that he knows of that could make her behave this way towards him because of his position, on first meeting.
“Whatever, your assumptions, daddy’s girl, I can assure you, they are wrong” he replies, purposely calling her daddy’s girl to emphasize how he sees her as being on the board just because her father owns the company. She is not the only one who can have assumptions.
She laughs a short, close lipped, belittling laugh, “No, Mr vice president, it is boss to you or Miss Pavlova, not daddy’s girl”
Michael wonders what she means by ‘Boss’ as he turns to Mr Ivanov, who has been watching the exchange between the two young ones with much amusement.
“Ah, yes, that’s right.” Mr Ivanov says, “Viktoria would be acting CEO for the next three months while I will be away, so I will be leaving the company in the hands of both of you”
“Hear that?” Viktoria says smugly. Michael cannot believe his ears. Is this a punishment or test of some sorts? How will this pampered daddy’s princess be as his boss if she is already like this from their first meeting and doesn’t even like him?
As though hearing Michael’s thought, Mr Ivanov says, “Now, now, my dear, don’t be that way. You won’t exactly be his boss in the sense that I am, you will merely be acting in my position on a trial basis, and you two would have to work together. Because I want to come back after three months to stupendous result. Aren’t we excited, hm?!” Mr Ivanov excitedly asks the two younger people who are nowhere near as excited as he is at the prospect of their working together.
“I believe you will achieve great things together!” Mr Ivanov says gleefully
“I don’t think we will achieve anything at all working together” Viktoria mutters under her breath, her father doesn’t hear but Michael hears, and finds that they actually agree on something.
This won’t work.
