Chapter 1
AUTHOR'S POV
For more than 200 years, an abandoned mansion stood silently at the edge of an ancient forest. Time had almost forgotten its existence, but people never forgot its name.
The Mirror House.
The mansion carried countless terrifying legends.
Some claimed the mirrors whispered people’s names after midnight.
Some said the reflections smiled even when the person standing before them didn’t.
Others believed the mansion chose one soul every generation... and once chosen, that person’s destiny changed forever.
Because of these stories, no one dared to live there.
Until...
Y/N entered the mansion.
After losing her parents and falling into financial hardship, Y/N accepts a high-paying caretaker job at the abandoned estate. Everyone warns her about the mansion’s history, but she dismisses every rumor as superstition.
The house is old...
Silent...
Almost beautiful.
The first week passes peacefully.
Nothing unusual happens.
Until the seventh night.
A violent thunderstorm shakes the mansion.
The electricity goes out.
While searching for candles, Y/N discovers a forgotten room hidden behind a locked wooden door.
At the center stands an enormous antique mirror covered by a faded white cloth.
As soon as she removes the cloth...
She sees herself.
Then...
A man slowly appears behind her reflection.
She gasps and turns around.
No one.
The room is empty.
When she looks back...
The man is still there.
He smiles gently.
Not like a stranger...
But like someone who has finally found what he had been waiting for.
“You finally came...”
The following nights, he appears again.
His name is Park Jimin.
He explains that he isn’t dead.
He isn’t a ghost.
He is trapped inside a parallel world that exists behind the mansion’s mirrors.
For him...
Only a few years have passed.
For the outside world...
More than two centuries have gone by.
Y/N refuses to believe him at first.
She searches every corner of the mansion.
Hidden doors.
Projectors.
Secret passages.
Anything that could explain the impossible.
But she finds nothing.
Eventually...
She accepts the truth.
Slowly, the mansion no longer feels lonely.
Every evening becomes their time together.
Y/N sits in front of the mirror with a cup of coffee while Jimin watches her from the other side.
She teaches him about the modern world.
Smartphones.
Movies.
Music.
Social media.
Late-night food deliveries.
He reacts to everything with innocent curiosity, making her laugh every single day.
In return...
Jimin tells her stories from the past.
The world before electricity.
Horse carriages.
Royal festivals.
Old traditions.
The stars that once filled the night sky.
Sometimes...
They spend hours doing absolutely nothing.
Just sitting quietly.
Looking at each other.
Comfortable in the silence.
As days become weeks...
Their conversations become more personal.
Jimin learns about Y/N’s fears.
Her loneliness.
The pain of losing her family.
Y/N learns about Jimin’s endless isolation.
Two hundred years of waiting...
Watching seasons change...
Watching strangers enter and leave...
Praying every single day that someone would finally see him.
Without realizing it...
They become each other’s home.
Soon, little traditions begin forming.
Every morning Y/N places fresh flowers beside the mirror because Jimin once said he missed the smell of spring.
Every evening they spend the precious moment with each other .
Whenever it rains, they count the seconds between thunder together.
They celebrate birthdays.
Watch sunsets.
Read the same novel from opposite sides of the glass.
Sometimes Y/N dances around the room just to make Jimin laugh.
Sometimes Jimin sketches little drawings on his side of the mirror, and Y/N copies them on hers.
Neither of them says the word “love.”
But it is already there.
Growing quietly.
One night...
Y/N instinctively places her hand against the mirror.
Jimin hesitates...
Then places his hand exactly where hers rests.
Only cold glass separates them.
Y/N smiles sadly.
“I wish I could hold your hand.”
Jimin lowers his eyes.
“I don’t even remember what warmth feels like anymore.”
That night...
Neither of them leaves the mirror until sunrise.
Weeks later...
Without warning...
A tiny crack appears across one corner of the mirror.
Y/N notices it immediately.
“Jimin... look.”
His smile disappears.
His face turns pale.
For the first time since they met...
He looks genuinely frightened.
Every day after that...
Another crack appears.
Then another.
The cracks slowly spread like veins across the glass.
Y/N assumes the mirror is simply old.
But Jimin knows the truth.
He has known it all along.
One rainy evening...
Y/N finally asks,
“Why are you so scared of these cracks?”
Jimin remains silent for a long time.
Then quietly says,
“Because... they were written in the prophecy.”
Y/N frowns.
“What prophecy?”
Jimin slowly walks closer to the mirror.
His fingers gently trace one of the cracks.
“Two hundred years ago... before I was trapped here... the guardians spoke of a prophecy.”
“They said one day, someone would enter this house... someone capable of seeing the man inside the mirror.”
Y/N whispers,
“...Me?”
Jimin nods.
“They also said... if those two souls ever fell in love with each other...”
He pauses.
His voice trembles.
“...the mirror would begin to break.”
Y/N looks at the spreading cracks.
Confused.
“Isn’t that a good thing? Doesn’t it mean you’ll finally be free?”
Jimin closes his eyes.
A tear slips down his face.
“No...”
“When the final crack appears...”
“...the bridge between our worlds will collapse forever.”
Y/N’s smile fades.
“Meaning...?”
Jimin looks at her with heartbreaking eyes.
“I’ll disappear.”
Silence fills the room.
“Not die...”
“...just cease to exist.”
“No mirror.”
“No reflection.”
“No memories.”
“No chance of ever finding you again.”
Y/N feels tears gathering in her eyes.
“There has to be another way...”
Jimin forces a weak smile.
“Maybe that’s why the prophecy exists.”
“Because some love stories were never meant to have an ending...”
From that night onward...
Every heartbeat between them becomes more precious.
Every laugh feels borrowed.
Every goodbye feels heavier.
Yet neither of them stops loving the other...
Even though every new crack in the mirror reminds them that love itself is slowly taking Jimin away.
After learning about the prophecy, Y/N refuses to believe that love has to end in separation.
“If destiny wrote this ending... then I’ll rewrite destiny itself.”
Ignoring Jimin’s warnings, she begins searching every corner of the abandoned mansion.
Days turn into weeks.
Every room hides another secret.
Dust-covered libraries.
Underground tunnels.
Locked bedrooms no one had entered for centuries.
Portraits whose eyes seem to follow her.
Old family records.
Ancient maps.
The deeper she searches, the stranger the mansion becomes.
Every midnight...
its hallways rearrange themselves.
Doors lead to different rooms.
Mirrors appear where no mirror existed before.
Sometimes...
she catches her own reflection smiling...
while she isn’t.
Sometimes...
she sees someone standing behind her.
But when she turns...
there is no one.
The mansion is alive.
And it knows she is getting closer to the truth.
One night...
she discovers a hidden chamber beneath the mansion.
Inside lies a journal written exactly two hundred years ago.
Its final pages reveal the truth no one ever knew.
The mirror was never cursed.
It was created as a prison.
Long before the mansion existed...
an ancient darkness capable of devouring human souls escaped into the world.
It could only travel through reflections.
To imprison it forever...
one guardian willingly entered the Mirror World...
becoming the living seal.
That guardian...
was Jimin.
He never disappeared.
He chose to remain trapped...
so everyone else could live.
Y/N’s hands begin trembling.
“So... you’ve been carrying this burden alone for two hundred years...”
As she continues reading...
another secret is revealed.
Only one bloodline possesses the power to destroy the curse forever.
Y/N belongs to that bloodline.
She was never chosen by coincidence.
The mansion had been waiting for her long before she was born.
But discovering the truth awakens the darkness.
The entity begins whispering through every mirror.
“Break the mirror...”
“You’ll never lose him again...”
“I’ll give you forever...”
It creates illusions.
It shows her fake memories.
Fake futures.
Even fake versions of Jimin begging for help.
She almost believes them...
until the real Jimin stops her.
“If you break it now...”
“...everyone dies.”
Determined to find another way...
Y/N keeps searching.
Finally...
she discovers the last missing page hidden inside the mansion’s foundation.
The prophecy was incomplete.
Everyone knew that true love would make the mirror crack...
But no one knew why.
The cracks weren’t destroying the bridge.
They were weakening the prison.
Love wasn’t the curse.
It was exposing the real curse hidden beneath the mansion.
The true source of everything...
was an ancient relic buried beneath its foundation.
As long as it existed...
someone would always remain trapped inside the Mirror World.
Jimin quietly smiles.
“So this... is the ending.”
He already knows what must happen.
He looks back one last time.
Jimin: “Stay here... no matter what happens.”
Y/N: “No.”
“I’m not letting you carry this burden alone again.”
Jimin gently smiles.
“If you come with me... you may never return.”
Y/N’s eyes fill with tears.
“Then we’ll face that fate together.”
Jimin slowly removes her hand.
“Please... trust me one last time.”
Before she can stop him...
he crosses the glowing boundary leading to the Mirror World’s core.
The transparent barrier instantly seals behind him.
Y/N bangs both fists against it.
“JIMIN!”
No matter how hard she pushes...
the barrier doesn’t break.
Then...
her eyes fall on the ancient journal lying beside the relic chamber.
One sentence, almost faded with time, catches her attention.
“The blood of the First Keeper can open the Gate that no key can unlock.”
Y/N freezes.
She remembers...
She is the last descendant of that bloodline.
Without wasting another second, she picks up the ceremonial dagger that had been used centuries ago to create the seal.
She takes a deep breath.
“You said this bloodline was chosen...”
“...then let it choose me.”
She presses her palm against the stone altar and lets a few drops of her blood fall onto the ancient symbol.
For a moment...
nothing happens.
Then—
The entire chamber begins to shake.
Golden light spreads across the floor.
The sealed barrier trembles.
A doorway made of countless mirror fragments slowly appears before her.
The gate had remained closed for two hundred years...
waiting for someone of her bloodline.
Y/N doesn’t hesitate.
She runs forward...
and steps through.
The moment her foot touches the other side...
she enters the collapsing Mirror World.
Jimin turns around in shock.
“Y/N... what have you done?”
She walks toward him, tears in her eyes but a determined smile on her face.
“You asked me to stay behind.”
“But I never promised I would.”
She takes his hand firmly.
“If this world is going to collapse...”
“...then we’ll fight it together.”
For the first time in two hundred years...
Jimin smiles without fear.
Together, hand in hand, they walk toward the heart of the Mirror World... ready to end the curse forever.
They enter the collapsing Mirror World.
Reality bends around them.
Endless mirrors shatter into the sky.
The ancient darkness finally reveals its true form.
A desperate battle begins.
Every broken reflection weakens the creature.
Every memory they shared becomes their strength.
Finally...
together...
they destroy the relic.
The darkness disappears forever.
The curse ends.
The Mirror World begins collapsing.
They run through the falling corridors.
Just before everything disappears...
they leap through the final mirror.
The moment they leaped through the final mirror...
A blinding white light swallowed everything.
The sound of shattering glass echoed endlessly.
Y/N instinctively reached out.
“Jimin!”
Their fingers were only inches apart...
But before she could hold his hand—
The Mirror World collapsed.
Y/N’s eyes flew open.
She was lying on the cold marble floor of the mansion.
The storm outside had stopped.
The silence...
was unbearable.
She immediately stood up.
“Jimin?”
No answer.
She ran through every room.
The library.
The grand hallway.
The staircase.
The hidden chamber beneath the mansion.
Nothing.
She returned to the ancient mirror.
It was gone.
Not broken...
Gone.
As if it had never existed.
Only tiny silver dust sparkled across the floor before fading into nothing.
Tears rolled down her cheeks.
“So...”
“...I was too late.”
She smiled weakly through the pain.
“You promised we’d leave together...”
Her voice broke.
“...you liar.”
She slowly sank onto the floor, hugging herself as the empty mansion echoed with nothing except her quiet sobs.
Exactly one year later...
The government officially restored the mansion and reopened it as The Mirror House Museum.
The terrifying legends had become history.
Visitors walked through its halls every day.
Children laughed where silence once ruled.
Old portraits were carefully preserved.
Ancient journals were displayed behind glass.
No one believed the stories anymore.
To them...
they were simply myths.
Only Y/N knew the truth.
On the museum’s first anniversary...
she returned alone.
She walked slowly through every familiar corridor.
Every step awakened another memory.
The staircase where they had laughed.
The hidden library where they searched for answers.
The old window where they had watched the rain together.
She smiled sadly.
“So much has changed...”
Eventually...
she reached the final exhibition hall.
In the center stood a simple glass display.
Inside it rested a small silver plaque.
“The Original Mirror of the Mirror House.”
The mirror itself had vanished forever.
Only its empty frame remained.
Y/N stood before it for several moments.
No reflections.
No shadows.
No whispers.
Just her.
She let out a soft breath.
“I guess...”
“...this really is goodbye.”
With one last smile...
she turned to leave.
One step.
Two steps.
Three—
Suddenly...
Strong arms wrapped gently around her waist from behind.
She froze.
Her heartbeat stopped.
The warmth...
It felt impossibly familiar.
A quiet chuckle reached her ear.
Deep.
Gentle.
“Leaving without saying goodbye?”
Her eyes widened.
A single tear slipped down her cheek.
She whispered, barely able to breathe,
“...Jimin?”
The arms around her tightened ever so slightly.
“No more mirrors.”
“No more prophecies.”
“No more goodbyes.”
“I’m finally home.”
Slowly...
she turned around.
There was no glass between them.
No reflection.
No illusion.
No dream.
Only Jimin.
Standing before her.
Real.
Alive.
His eyes were just as warm as she remembered.
For a few seconds...
they simply stared at each other.
Neither of them spoke.
Neither of them needed to.
Y/N suddenly hit his shoulder with both hands, tears streaming down her face.
“You......”
“I thought I lost you...”
“I waited for you every single day...”
Jimin smiled, his own eyes glistening.
“I know.”
“I saw every flower you left.”
“Every visit.”
“Every promise you kept.”
“I just couldn’t come back...”
“...until the last trace of the Mirror World disappeared.”
Y/N couldn’t hold back anymore.
She threw herself into his arms.
This time...
he caught her effortlessly.
Holding her close against his chest.
Never letting go.
Jimin gently cupped her face, brushing away the tears that had refused to stop for an entire year.
He smiled softly.
“I love you.”
Y/N let out a shaky laugh through her tears.
“You took long enough to come home.”
He rested his forehead against hers.
“But I kept my promise.”
Without another word, she closed the distance between them.
Their lips met in a gentle, long-awaited kiss.
A kiss that carried every goodbye they had endured...
and every tomorrow they had almost lost.
When they finally pulled away, Jimin intertwined his fingers with hers.
Together, they looked at the evening sky.
No curses.
No mirrors.
No distance.
Just two souls who had finally found their way back to each other.
And this time...
nothing in any world could ever separate them again.
— The End. 🪞🤍
