Chapter 10: Zain Shah and Mada Shah cute moments
The next morning everyone was gathered in the dining hall. Except Zain Shah, everyone was busy with breakfast. Just then Zain Shah entered the dining hall. He greeted everyone. In the dining hall, only the chair next to Maida Shah was empty. Zain Shah came and sat carelessly on the chair next to Maida Shah, while Maida Shah’s eyes remained wide open. Now she couldn’t get up in front of everyone. Before, it was the university, no one was going to say anything. But now they were at home where her elders were present. And it was Maida Shah’s misunderstanding that no one was going to say anything to her. She had got up from the classroom because Zain Shah had let her go.
Just as someone was about to say something, Shayan Shah’s voice echoed in the dining hall, “Zain, do you have any plan for today?”
“No,” Zain Shah replied.
“Can you go to the university? Do you remember the project I told you about? Its final meeting is today. And there’s a midterm exam at the university too. So someone has to give an update. That’s why I thought if you’re free, you should go.”
“Okay, you go to the meeting without worry. I’ll handle everything at the university. Anyway, I’ve seen the whole system yesterday. Okay, Allah Hafiz,” Shayan Shah said goodbye to everyone and headed towards the porch outside.
“Bii Jaan said to Zain Shah, ‘Shah, since you’re going, take both the girls with you too.’”
Maida Shah’s face fell at Bii Jaan’s words. Maida Shah’s condition was a bit better now but she still had a fever. She wouldn’t have gone to university today if there wasn’t a paper, but she had to go today.
“Yes, Bii Jaan,” Zain Shah said to everyone. “If both of you have finished breakfast, come outside. I’m waiting in the car.”
“Brother, we had breakfast in the lab. We were just waiting for you,” Hooriya Shah said.
Zain Shah looked at both of them. Both had covered themselves fully, only their eyes were visible. Actually, since Zain Shah had come, he hadn’t seen Maida Shah without a niqab.
“Okay, come. I’m taking the car out,” Zain Shah said and headed towards the porch outside. Maida Shah and Hooriya Shah also picked up their bags and followed behind Zain Shah. Hooriya Shah came and sat on the back seat, and Maida Shah, seeing her cleverness, also came and sat on the back seat. Seeing both of them sitting at the back, he said, “I’m not your driver, sit in the front.”
“Brother, tell Maida to come and sit in the front. Actually, a bit of my assignment is left to write. There’s less space in the front, I’ll relax and write in the back. And this assignment is also that lady’s who didn’t bother to write it.”
Feeling embarrassed in front of Zain Shah, Hooriya Shah said, “I was unwell, otherwise I would have written it myself.”
Maida Shah cleared her side in front of Zain Shah, “Fine, come to the front, you.”
Zain Shah said to Maida Shah, “Maida Shah got out of the car angrily and came and sat in the front. The whole way passed in silence. Zain Shah stopped the car outside the university and both of them moved inside.
Hooriya Shah and Maida Shah entered the class. Many students were busy with exam preparation. Both of them came and sat in the middle. Just then the peon came inside and said to all the students, “The exam will start in 10 minutes, everyone stay in the class.” Just then a student asked the peon, “Sir Ahmad has come?” He replied, “No, Zain Shah will take your exam.”
Hooriya became happy hearing this. Hooriya and Maida Shah were very good at studies, but hearing that Zain was going to take the test, Maida Shah’s breath caught and she remembered she hadn’t prepared those graphics chapters. Now she was angry at herself for leaving class.
Hooriya, Maida Shah called Hooriya Shah, “Yaar, I don’t understand the test at all. I didn’t even attend yesterday’s lecture, and I don’t even understand what’s written here.”
Hooriya Shah looked at Maida Shah and said, “So who told you to leave class and become a fairy?”
Maida Shah glared at Hooriya Shah angrily, “Fine, don’t you remember anything? Anyway, there will only be MCQs in today’s test, you can do those, right?”
“What do you mean ‘I can do them’? I haven’t studied anything, Hooriya. I took medicine and fell asleep,” Maida Shah replied.
“Only 5 minutes are left and I can’t explain it to you in 5 minutes,” Hooriya Shah said.
Just as both of them were talking, Zain Shah entered the class. “Assalamu Alaikum class. Everyone quickly arrange yourselves according to the roll number sheet.” Everyone’s sheets were distributed. Maida Shah’s roll number was in the front while Hooriya’s roll number was at the end. Maida Shah’s hands started trembling. “Allah ji, save me. From now on I promise I’ll never miss a lecture,” Maida Shah became busy in prayer.
Just then Zain Shah’s voice echoed, “You all have received the question paper. On the answer sheet, put a tick on the objective that is correct. And you only have 30 minutes.” There was a big distance between students’ chairs, because of which asking someone was nearly impossible. Zain Shah came and stood at the front, right next to Maida Shah’s chair. He was looking around. Just then his eyes fell on Maida Shah’s hands, which were trembling.
“Maida, are you okay?” Zain Shah asked.
“Yes,” Maida Shah replied in a trembling voice. Maida Shah kept sitting with the pen cap open and hadn’t done anything yet. 10 minutes passed and she still hadn’t done anything. Seeing her sitting like that, Zain Shah was suppressing his smile. “Having become such a big fairy and left from here, and now can’t even write,” Zain Shah thought to himself. Then he slowly moved towards Maida Shah’s chair and, placing one finger on her question paper, told her all the answers. Maida Shah thought he had come to scold her, but seeing him help her, she was surprised.
