Chapter 1

I rub my puffy eyes as I slowly drag his cold and lifeless body out of our kitchen back door into our backyard. His face is disarranged to the point of barely being able to recognize him as a human, and his head is hardly connected to his body.

I dragged him closer to the firepit, his body becoming heavier as the weight of what I did slowly poured into my mind like slow-killing poison. What if someone found out? I would go to jail no worse I am going to hell, No matter how many years I will spend asking for forgiveness I still killed him.

What will my family think? What will mama think? With shaky hands, I reach into my back pocket for the box of matches I took from the kitchen cabinet before I start to drag him out here. Slowly pushing his body into the pit looking into his dead green eyes one last time before lighting a match and throwing it into the pit. I let the flames start a little bit before using a can of aerosols to make the flames grow.

I go back inside to clean every crook and cranny of the kitchen. Once the blood is gone I take the rags I used to the pit. The fire is almost out but I can still see his bones and other random body parts. I cover it with the bloody rags this time lighting two matches and putting them at either end of the pit slowly watching the flames rise again.

I take the hose and water the ground from the door to the pit. When I am done I walk back to the pit. The flames are much bigger than before. I remove all the bloody pieces of clothes from my body including my shoes then piece by piece throw them into the fire.

Standing there nude in front of the fire only the trees and and the growing darkness covered me, I take a shovel when the fire starts to die and crush the bones and buried them with the entire pit.

I go back inside and head into the shower and take one of the longest, most nonchalant, and joyful showers ever, yes I just killed my husband in a way I can't possibly explain but for one reason or another, it made me want to sing like a little girl playing in a field, like tasting chocolate for the first time or reading a good book with a well deserved happy ending.
