The Uninteresting Town of Arbuck
On the surface, Arbuck was a rather small, seemingly uninteresting town. If someone were to stay there for a while, however, they would find it was anything but.
Upon closer inspection of this seemingly uninteresting town, they would find it teeming with creatures of the fantastical variety. Fairies, Unicorns, a dragon or two. The Soulbound partners of those who lived in Arbuck. At the age of Eighteen, residents of the small town undertook a quest beyond it's borders, becoming bound for life to the creature that chose them.
As mentioned earlier, Arbuck was a small town. This particular year, only two residents had turned eighteen. The Harper twins, Lily and Matthew.
Matthew Harper, a shy, skinny boy with glasses that didn't sit quite right on his nose, was rather nervous about his quest, and rightly so. The forests outside town were dangerous, any creature a person encountered that was not their soulbound mate would be very likely to do them harm. Not all those who left Arbuck were destined to return.
His twin, Lily, had always been the more athletic and outgoing of the two. She was much more enthusiastic about the quest, longing to see the world beyond Arbuck's walls.
Despite their differing personalities, the twins were completely inseparable. Lily was Matthew's protector, and his cautious nature balanced out her boundless courage. There was never any doubt that they would leave together.
And so, as the Sun rose on their Eighteenth Birthday, the twins departed the seemingly uninteresting town of Arbuck to seek their soulbound mates, a fantastic adventure awaiting them.
