Chapter 1🖤
Chapter One: A Call from the Void
༺═──────────────═༻
vast forest of towering trees, majestic, dark, and strangely refreshing—a living contradiction where good twists into evil, light bleeds into shadow, and reality merges with imagination.
Sitting upon the damp green grass, Emma feels the rush of a cold breeze, her ears tuning to the cawing of crows drawing closer by the second, heralding his approach.Clutched in her hands is that book... the sole witness to her story.
Eighteen-year-old Emma sat reading ancient history books, flipping through images of ancient Greek sculptures and statues, while listening to soft music and jotting down the most important notes. Emma had always been infatuated with ancient history and fantasy books that spoke of otherworldly entities—dark, melancholic beings possessing a power no human could ever hold. While she was reading her favorite novel about the world of supernatural entities,
she felt a hot breath blow against her neck. It was a single exhale, yet it felt like a storm that passed for less than a second and vanished. She turned around in sheer panic, trying to reassure herself that everything was fine.
She reached for her cup of Nescafe, only to be startled to find it completely empty, though it had been half-full just moments ago. Confusion gripped Emma to the point where she could hear the pounding of her own heartbeat. She shut the books in her hands and went to bed…
Emma was walking in the vast area around her house, noticing the dreadful weather.
She looked up at the terrifying sky, heavy with clouds. But these were no ordinary clouds; they were pitch-black storms shaped into rectangular, geometric forms, stacked tightly against one another like giant bricks built into the heavens. The sight alone was enough to make anyone, no matter how strong, completely collapse.
Emma looked around, only to find herself encircled by a massive ring of graves, each bearing a colossal cross. Above her, she was trapped, surrounded by those geometric clouds, while thick black smoke bled into the very ground surrounding her..
Emma began to hear strange sounds—cries that drew closer with agonizing slowness. With every inch the sound gained, her body shook more violently, and beads of sweat gathered on her forehead. The sound sharpened, revealing its origin: a swarm of countless, terrifying crows descending from a rift in the geometric clouds above. Emma was on the verge of collapsing from the sheer horror of the sight. But the crows were not alone. They were the heralds of something else—something monstrous and colossal. Its vast wings eclipsed the heavens, plunging the world into absolute darkness. Emma could see nothing, yet her senses were overwhelmed by a strange odor—a mixture of damp earth and burning wood. Then, from the distance, a deep, terrifying, booming voice echoed, speaking in incomprehensible murmurs and whispers. And then, it began to call her name...
'Emma... Emma... Emma...'
She bolted upright in a fit of terror, waking from the nightmare in a pitiful state, her body drenched in sweat. But the strangest part remained: the smell. It wasn't just a remnant of a dream; it filled her room entirely. Without hesitation, Emma rose and began to record every detail in her journal. She knew that even if she told anyone, no one would ever believe the truth of what she had witnessed.
With trembling fingers, Emma began to flip through her old research on Greek and Canaanite history, desperately trying to find a connection between her vision and the manuscripts she had studied for so long. She suddenly recalled a stone relief she had seen in a rare book about forgotten civilizations—a carving depicting an entity with vast wings eclipsing the horizon of an entire city, beneath clouds arranged in hauntingly precise geometric patterns. Was this merely a coincidence? Or was the history she considered mere legends actually warning her of something? Emma began comparing the descriptions of crows in underworld mythologies with what she had seen in her dream, discovering a chilling resemblance. In many ancient cultures, crows were harbingers of a great entity coming to gather souls or decode the secrets of time. As she wrote, the realization hit her: the book in her hands was not just paper, but a map of what was to come. The entity hadn't visited her dream to scare her; it had come to tell her that the search had only just begun.
(There will be many dreams that Emma will witness throughout this novel. But are they truly just dreams, or are they gateways to other dimensions unknown to man? Let us discover this together in the coming chapters).
The threads of truth are beginning to tangle, and the dream is merely the beginning. What are your thoughts on Emma and what she faces? And who is this entity that haunts her between waking and sleeping? Is it real, or a mere illusion? I leave it to you to wonder before we dive deeper in the chapters to come
