Chapter 1: Astraeus
The cafe smelled of burnt toast and expensive espresso-the Tuesday after today was going to be day that I propose to my girlfriend, Dove. I couldn't wait as we have been together for 2 years already and I love her a lot. But I don't know what Dove will say. Hopefully she'll marry me but lately she seemed a bit weirder than she usually is.
You see, she is ALWAYS on her phone when she is with me. Like the phone is more important than me. I always try to ask if she is okay but she always says she is fine.. How can I believe that? She always gets startled aswell when I kiss her. I really hope she isn't falling out of love with me.
I look at her as she looks at her phone like always, looking happier with that then me. I finally speak and say, "Would you get off of your phone for at least one minute? What's the matter?"
She says, "Oh, I'm just doing something."
I roll my eyes and say, "Doing what? You're always on your phone when you're with me. Do you even love me anymore?"
She looks at me and says, "Yeah, I love you."
I snatch her phone from her and say, "Why won't you look at me in the face? Why do you get scared when I simply kiss you. Isn't that a normal thing for couples to do? "
She says, "Give it back!"
I say, "No. Not until you tell me what the matter is. Please, I love you babe. I just want to love you like I've always done. "
She rolls her eyes and says, "I don't know. I just feel tired these last few days."
I say, "Why didn't you tell me? I would've let you get lots of rest. "
She says, "Let's just eat and forget about it."
After we finish, we walk out of the cafe and we head back to college. When I arrive in class, my best friend Reuben comes over to me and says, "Astreus! Guess what."
I say, "What?"
He smiles and says, "I've got a boyfriend!"
Yes he is gay, but I support him. That's what friends do.
I say, "Omg, who?"
" Um, so he is a year above us and his name is Tyler. "
I nod and then the teacher walks in.
