The Adventure of Timmy Tough knuckles: Wild boar chase
“Timmy!”
A woman’s voice drifted into the room, pulling him from a deep sleep.
Zane slowly opened his eyes and stared blankly at the unfamiliar wooden ceiling above him. Sunlight streamed through a small window, filling the room with a warm golden glow. He blinked several times, convinced he was still dreaming. The bed beneath him felt rough, and the smell of fresh wood and smoke lingered in the air.
“Timmy!” the woman called again, this time with more impatience.
For a moment, Zane thought he was hallucinating. His mind raced as he searched for an explanation. Then the name finally registered.
Timmy.
That was the name of the protagonist from his favorite cartoon, Timmy Tough Knuckles.
He looked down at his hands. They were smaller than he remembered. His body felt lighter too. Panic briefly flashed across his face, but he forced himself to stay calm.
There’s no way... Did I really become Timmy?
Not wanting to raise suspicion, he decided to play along.
“Yes, Mom,” he answered before climbing out of bed and walking toward her.
Timmy’s mother barely acknowledged him. Ever since her husband had abandoned the family to chase adventure across the seas as a pirate, she had grown bitter and distant. Raising a child alone had hardened her heart, and Timmy had long since stopped expecting kindness from her.
Without saying another word, she reached for a loaf of bread on the table and tore off two uneven slices. She handed them to him without even meeting his eyes.
“Take these,” she said coldly. “You’re not coming back until you’ve killed a wild boar.”
There was no encouragement in her voice, only expectation.
Zane wanted to question her, but he remembered enough of the cartoon to know that Timmy’s mother rarely explained herself. Instead, he quietly nodded, tucked the bread under his arm, and stepped outside.
The moment he left the house, he stopped in his tracks.
The world before him was breathtaking.
Everything looked brighter and more alive than it ever had on television. Endless fields of green stretched toward the horizon, sparkling beneath the morning sun. Colorful wildflowers swayed gently in the breeze, while butterflies floated lazily from blossom to blossom. Birds perched high in the trees, filling the air with cheerful songs that echoed across the countryside.
“So this is the overworld,” Timmy whispered with a smile.
He had watched this world countless times through a screen, but standing in it was an entirely different experience.
Unable to contain his excitement, he began walking toward the forest. Each step carried him deeper into a world filled with mystery and adventure.
As he reached the edge of the woods, the air became cooler. Tall trees blocked much of the sunlight, casting dancing shadows across the forest floor. Moss covered fallen logs, while patches of colorful mushrooms grew beneath ancient oaks.
“Ah...”
Timmy closed his eyes and took a deep breath. The scent of damp earth, pine needles, and wildflowers filled his lungs.
Then the peaceful moment was interrupted by the loud croaking of frogs hidden somewhere nearby.
He frowned.
“Why are frogs even a thing?” he muttered. “They’re slimy, they make awful noises, and somehow they’re always around whenever you’re trying to enjoy nature.”
Chuckling at his own complaint, he continued deeper into the forest.
His mission was simple.
Find a wild boar.
Unfortunately, that was much easier said than done.
Wild boars had become increasingly rare over the years, making them difficult to find even for experienced hunters. Timmy searched carefully, examining broken branches and muddy footprints, hoping to discover some kind of trail.
Every now and then he would hear rustling bushes and rush toward the sound, only to find squirrels, rabbits, or frightened birds flying into the sky.
Hours passed.
The forest grew denser with every step.
Suddenly, he heard heavy footsteps in the distance.
His heart skipped a beat.
A wild boar!
Without thinking, he sprinted toward the sound.
Branches scraped against his arms as he forced his way through thick bushes.
When he finally burst into a clearing, he froze.
Standing only a few meters away was a massive moose peacefully grazing beside its young calf.
Timmy had never seen such a huge animal up close.
The mother slowly raised her head.
Their eyes met.
Silence filled the clearing.
The calf stepped closer to its mother.
The moose snorted loudly before lowering its head.
“Oh no...”
The enormous animal charged.
Timmy spun around and ran as fast as he could.
Leaves scattered beneath his feet while the pounding of heavy hooves echoed behind him. He jumped over fallen logs, squeezed between narrow trees, and nearly slipped into a muddy stream before catching his balance again.
“I was looking for a boar, not a monster!”
The moose continued chasing him until he had put a considerable distance between himself and her calf.
Finally, the pounding footsteps stopped.
Timmy cautiously looked behind him.
The moose had returned to her baby.
He collapsed against a nearby tree, breathing heavily.
“Definitely... not... a wild boar.”
Despite the frightening encounter, he couldn’t help laughing.
The forest was dangerous, but it was also exciting. Every path seemed to hide another surprise.
By the time he caught his breath, the sun had climbed directly overhead.
His stomach growled.
Remembering the bread his mother had given him, Timmy sat beneath a large oak tree and ate one slice slowly. It was dry and plain, but after all the running, it tasted surprisingly satisfying.
He washed it down with cool water from a nearby stream before continuing his search.
The afternoon passed quietly.
He wandered through the forest without any clear direction, occasionally stopping to admire colorful birds perched on branches or to snack on sweet berries growing along the bushes.
At one point he found strange mushrooms glowing faintly beneath a fallen log. Curious, he reached toward one before quickly deciding it was probably wiser not to touch mysterious glowing plants.
“Maybe another day,” he laughed.
Just as he was beginning to wonder if he would ever find a wild boar, he noticed a thin trail leading away from the trees.
Curiosity got the better of him.
Following the path, he soon arrived at a small wooden hut tucked away in a peaceful clearing.
A beautiful flower garden surrounded the cottage. Bright roses, lilies, lavender, and daisies bloomed in neat rows, filling the air with a sweet fragrance. Bees buzzed lazily from flower to flower while gentle smoke drifted from the chimney.
The place felt strangely peaceful, almost magical.
Timmy hesitated for a moment before gathering his courage.
He walked up to the wooden door and knocked.
A few moments later, the door slowly opened.
An elderly woman with kind eyes and long silver hair greeted him with a warm smile.
“Good afternoon, young traveler,” she said.
“Good day, ma’am. I’m Timmy.”
“My name is Grace,” the old woman replied kindly. “Please, come inside.”
The inside of the cottage was warm and cozy. Shelves lined the walls, filled with jars containing dried herbs, colorful powders, and strange roots. Bundles of plants hung from the ceiling, filling the room with a pleasant herbal scent.
Grace gestured toward a chair.
“Would you like some tea?”
“Yes, thank you.”
As she poured the steaming drink into a small wooden cup, she looked at him curiously.
“So,” she asked, “what brings you all the way out here?”
“I’m looking for a wild boar.”
Grace smiled knowingly.
“Then you’re in luck.”
Timmy leaned forward.
“You have one?”
“I do.”
Hope immediately appeared on his face.
“But,” Grace continued with a gentle smile, “nothing comes without effort.”
Timmy nodded.
“What do I have to do?”
“If you’re willing to work under my service for four days, the wild boar will be yours.”
Timmy thought about the offer. After wandering through the forest all day and nearly getting trampled by a moose, working for four days sounded like a much better option.
He smiled.
“Deal.”
Grace’s smile widened.
“Excellent,” she said. “Then your first day of work begins at sunrise tomorrow.”
