It started with a notification. Not an alarm, not a warning—just a routine system log, the kind Marcus checked out of habit more than necessity. His biometric signature had authorized a transfer three hours ago. A transfer he never made.
He sat up fast, monitors flooding the room in cold blue light. His hands moved before his mind caught up, pulling logs, cross-referencing timestamps. The signature was his. The retinal scan was his. The access pattern even moved the way he moved—efficient, minimal keystrokes, no wasted motion.
Someone had cloned him.
Not his face. Not his voice. Him—the parts of him that were supposed to be unclonable. His biometric signature was his passport into every system he'd ever touched, legal and otherwise. If someone had it, they didn't just have access. They had his identity, wearing it like a second skin.
Marcus pulled up the transaction. Three hundred million won, routed through a shell account, into the private servers of the National Security Korea directorate. Not stolen from them. Stolen for them, then flagged as an unauthorized breach
