HOW CAN I MAKE IT OUT ALIVE

"This story has a strong premise and immediately establishes a dark, oppressive atmosphere. However, it would benefit from smoother prose, more showing instead of telling, and a deeper emotional connection with Lalia before the abuse escalates. Here's a balanced, encouraging review you could leave: As a fellow Inkitt author, I found this to be a compelling and emotionally heavy opening. The author immediately establishes a dark atmosphere, and the contrast between the storm outside and the one waiting for Lalia at home is a strong metaphor that drew me into the story. The opening warning that no character is safe also creates a sense of tension and makes readers curious about what lies ahead. Lalia is an easy character to sympathize with. Her fear and exhaustion are evident, and her difficult home life immediately gives readers a reason to care about her. The ending leaves enough mystery to encourage reading the next chapter. One suggestion I'd offer is to slow down some of the emotional moments. Instead of telling us that Lalia is terrified or that her mother is furious, consider showing these emotions through body language, expressions, and small actions. This allows readers to experience the scene alongside the character rather than simply being told what happens. I'd also recommend polishing the dialogue and narration for smoother flow. Some sentences feel repetitive or overly dramatic, and tightening the prose would make the emotional impact even stronger. A few grammatical adjustments and more natural dialogue would also improve readability. Overall, this is a promising start with a strong atmosphere and an intriguing main character. With a little more focus on "show, don't tell" and some editing for pacing and language, I think this story has the potential to become a very immersive psychological mystery. I look forward to seeing where Lalia's journey leads. This chapter kept me hooked with its mystery, and the ending made me eager to find out who the stranger really is and how he knew about Lalia's bruises. One suggestion would be to slow down some of the dialogue and add more descriptions of the characters' emotions and surroundings to build even stronger tension and make the encounter feel more realistic.
