Losing My Forever
When he wakes up to the blinding light shining through his shade, he notices the throbbing pulse in his temples. Now the feeling sensation of the cotton-dry mouth makes him feel dehydrated. As he stands up from his bed, he scans the room and shocked to see the battlefield of empty bottles spread throughout the living room, along with an upside-down pizza box lying on the floor. This was a common theme in his life now and he hit his low point and just doesn't care.
Feeling disorientated he glares upon the walls, squinting his eyes and struggling to get a clear vision of the posters, which were of him. You see, this is Arlo Jackson. He was once a great musician and was doing pretty good for a while, until he had an unfortunate traumatic experience that set his career back. Now it is harder than ever for him to get back into singing and performing concerts again. It has been some time that he sang or booked a show. Not even his booking agent, publicist or business managers has been in touch with Arlo. He burned his bridges one too many times and lost everything.
4 years ago, Arlo and his wife Maddie went to the beach. She had her arms wrapped around his neck, and Arlo had his arms wrapped tightly around her waist. The waves were smooth and aesthetic in the beginning. Then they became rougher when the waves hit their bodies, rocking them hard, as you would feel on a fast paced train. Arlo passionately kisses Maddie. He loved how she felt in his arms, soft like silly putty. He would move his kisses from her lips to her cheeks, then down to her neck and gently nibble her right earlobe. She would breathe in deep and press her body into him, now wrapping her legs around his waist.
The waves were getting stronger, knocking Arlo off balance to where he let Maddie go. Her feet would hit the sand on the bottom of the ocean, and the wind picked up. The sun casts a blinding glare and makes the ocean sparkle. Every time there was a gust of wind, the sand stung their skin as it blew on them. Arlo grabbed Maddie's wrist to pull her out of the water. He loved Maddie's brunette mid length bob haircut blowing in the wind, her dark brown eyes with stunning long lashes flickering from the wind. Arlo thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world. He loved her tan skin, long, smooth but yet a little muscular legs, and the timeless pillar-box red nail polish on her toes.
If people did not know who he was, then it would be her they would think is the genuine movie star. The wind was intensifying and created sand dunes on the beach. But this did not bother Arlo or Maddie because they just wanted to get away and be alone together, to escape from celebrity life. As the wind kept picking up, the waves looked round, and the currents were escalating. He motioned over to her; he wants to lie down.
"Go ahead, I just want ten more minutes of beach time." She smiled and walked a little deeper into the ocean.
Initially, the thought did not cross his mind. When he walked off getting closer to one of their beach chairs, he felt a tremendous gust of wind fly over his body and then had an eerie feeling. By the time he turned around, that fast an enormous wave and current had taken her further out to sea, and she yelled out to him. The wind was so powerful that one could barely hear her screams. Arlo ran immediately towards her and yelled for help to the crowd of people on the beach. He jumped into the water without thinking about his own life; it came naturally to him. Within minutes of him trying to reach her, the ocean swallowed her up. The water smashed against him, and the salt stung his eyes, barely giving him a chance to see clearly and look for her. It was hard for him to keep up with the waves that shattered against his body. One gigantic wave came over him and he can't remember what happened next as he blacked out.
He wakes up on the beach surrounded by people whispering and staring. In a frantic mode, he immediately screamed out for Maddie.
"Maddie! Maddie! Maddddie! Where is she? Please go out there and help. She can't be out there alone."
The group of people were mumbling, who is Maddie? Then someone recognized him from the crowd, "Hey that's Arlo Jackson!" The Emergency techs and police pulled him quickly away from the mob to get him to a safe place, and he was still screaming out her name desperately. Now his chest tightens up and constricts, the air he is breathing feels like it is burning him. The sound of people and seagulls made his heartbeat faster. His ribs felt beaten up from the waves. A sudden intense fear overwhelms, the thought of Maddie lost out there all alone, or worse.
They sent out boats to go find her, they were out there all day and night, but did not find his wife. The search continued for a few more days but no sight of her. Arlo even paid a hefty price to a bunch of private boats to go search for her. Hours turned to days, and days turned to weeks until one day he stares blankly at the wall. He lifts his head up and realized the love of his life, was gone.
