Chapter 1: The Voice Note
I was halfway through deleting old pictures when my phone vibrated.
Unknown number.
I almost ignored it, but something made me open the message.
It was a voice note.
Seven seconds long.
I pressed play.
At first, there was only noise—car horns, a door shutting, someone laughing in the background.
Then I heard his voice.
Jordan.
“I can’t keep pretending I don’t miss Amara,” he said quietly. “But if she finds out what her best friend did, she’ll hate all of us.”
The voice note ended.
My hands started shaking.
Jordan had blocked me six months ago.
And my best friend was sitting right beside me.
