Episode 1: Views, Subscribers and Dreams

As usual, the living room was filled with noise. Voices overlapped as the members of iPROGRAM chatted over one another, creating the familiar chaos that had become part of their daily lives.

Sunlight poured through the tall windows, bathing the wooden floor in warm shades of gold. Half-empty water bottles, magazines, and practice notes lay scattered across the coffee table, silent evidence of another exhausting day in the lives of newly debuted idols.

Near the window, Leader Gun, Rapper Ace, and Rapper Beat were deep in discussion about how to promote their debut song, Fake Friend.

Their company, Mova Entertainment, was far from being one of the industry’s giants. Unlike the major agencies with countless staff members supporting every move their idols made, Mova simply did not have those resources. As a result, the members of iPROGRAM had to handle much of the promotion themselves, even managing their own social media accounts. And yes, this debut meant everything to them.

If Fake Friend failed, Mova Entertainment might no longer be able to support iPROGRAM. This debut wasn’t just another release. It could decide whether the group even had a future.

The members of iPROGRAM had lost count of how many hours they had spent training for this moment. Endless practices. Sleepless nights. Physical exhaustion. Mental pressure. They had endured all of it.

Yet none of those hardships mattered compared to the dream they were chasing.

Gun, Ace, and Moss had all fought against their parents to pursue careers in music. Jet and Beat’s families had never openly approved either. They simply stopped arguing because they knew their sons would never give up.

Every one of them understood the truth.

They had reached this point through nothing but stubborn determination.

Now, after years of effort, they had finally debuted.

But everyone knew that debuting was not the hardest part.

Making that debut successful was.

If the company eventually gave up on them, if the group disbanded and they were forced to return home, they would have nothing to show for all those sacrifices except embarrassment and regret.

Among them, the person carrying the heaviest burden was GunStar.

Despite being one of the youngest members, his talent had earned him the position of leader. Because of that title, he seemed to believe that the group’s success was entirely his responsibility.

Gun was not only their leader but also one of the group’s main songwriters. Together with Beat, he had written Fake Friend, the song carrying all of their hopes for a successful debut.

That was why the three of them were still discussing promotion strategies so seriously.

Meanwhile, the youngest member, Moss, was sprawled across a sofa, listening to the conversation while occasionally throwing in his own comments.

Jet sat on the sofa opposite him, completely uninterested in the discussion.

He was busy taking selfies.

As always.

The story of how Jet became iPROGRAM’s visual was surprisingly simple.

When the company uploaded their first member introduction shorts on YouTube, Jet’s video immediately received the highest number of views.

From that day onward, his skincare routine somehow expanded into a three-hour daily ritual. Missing a gym session became unthinkable.

Ironically, the company had originally assumed Ace or Beat would become the group’s visual. Instead, Jet had appeared out of nowhere and effortlessly overtaken everyone.

Ever since then, nobody had been able to match his confidence.

In fact, Jet seemed firmly convinced that his primary responsibility to iPROGRAM was simply being handsome.

“No wonder...” he murmured while examining another selfie. “My Short got the most views. My visuals are insane.”

Moss immediately sat up.

“Bro... Gun’s Short got the most views, not yours.” He grinned.

Without the slightest hint of embarrassment, Jet replied with absolute confidence.

“Well, maybe. But Gun still can’t beat me in subscribers. Right, Gun?”

Being the patient leader he always was, Gun simply laughed.

“Hahaha... yeah, yeah. I surrender.”

At that moment, another person whose confidence had dramatically increased since the company dyed his hair purple decided to join the conversation.

Rapper Ace.

“Hey, guys!” Ace called out. “Don’t forget I got over 7K views and brought hundreds of new followers to our TikTok.”

Beat instantly seized the opportunity.

“You mean that sexy bare-chest dance?”

Moss burst out laughing.

“And you’ve been sneezing for two days straight, bro Ace!”

The entire room erupted.

It was true.

Ace had filmed Ateez’s Bad dance challenge wearing a designer brown fur jacket, leaving his chest completely exposed. The result was impressive views... and two straight days of catching a cold.

“Yeah, yeah. Keep laughing,” Ace shot back. “Just remember, I’ve still got plenty of cold medicine waiting for you guys. Beat, you’ll be doing the Mi Chico dance challenge in that open denim jacket too. Jet, you’re even worse. And Gun, your Red Red dance challenge is way too safe. The company is definitely going to make you do another dance challenge.”

He pointed dramatically at Moss.

“And you. I’ll personally force-feed you medicine when you get sick.”

The room exploded into laughter again.

For a few moments, all of them forgot about the pressure.

Forgot about the uncertainty.

Forgot about the fear.

Gun smiled along with everyone else. Then he quietly picked up his phone and opened their social media analytics.

Views.

Subscribers.

Engagement.

The laughter around him continued, but his smile slowly faded.

He stared at the numbers in silence.

Inside his mind, a single thought echoed quietly.

We can laugh today...

But tomorrow, we have to make this song reach more people.
