Chapter 1: The Orange Hour!
“Look!! Mist, look!! A lightning is coming towards us, our future will be bright,” a farmer in the village called out to Isabella with an ominous, ringing laugh.
This all takes place in the Meghan district.
It was the dusk of the Orange Hour. The dying sun rays fell perfectly across Mist's dark, silky hair, catching the intricate threads of her vintage white gown with its shimmering silver embroidery. Her pale skin softly reflected the warm, bleeding colors of the evening sky. And that garden? Well, it was complimenting her in every single aspect. She stood amidst a massive bed of vibrant roses, the sound of small, crystal-clear waterfalls echoing softly through the courtyard.
High above, the almost seamless little stars were just beginning to wake up in the dusky, bluey sky. They seemed to twinkle right inside her black doe eyes—a brilliant spark of magic getting swiftly swept away by the slow, gentle blow of her long lashes whenever she blinked.
She came back home in the evening with clusters of flowers, finding her father sitting down to tell the story of "THE LAND OF SEVEN KINGS" to her little sister, Julia, who was twelve years old.
She always used to wonder... Is there even a world like that?
Mist said to her father, "Father, come and see the beautiful flowers I have brought!" she cried in an exciting tone.
Her father replied with a soft nod, standing up and heading over to the table with her sister, Julia.
"That's beautiful, my daughter," her father said in a concerning and calm tone, his eyes softening as he looked at the fresh petals. "It reminds me of your mother when she was alive and young."
"Awww, Dad..." Mist murmured gently. "If you miss her this much, then come and let us go visit her grave with me now, with these flowers."
Her father nodded in agreement and asked Julia to come together with them.
Julia looked up, her young face full of quiet emotion. "Dad, I also miss Mama, so this time when we go, I will light up the lantern, please!!" Julia finished her sentence eagerly.
Her father smiled softly. "OK! You're at least twelve anyway, you can do that."
Julia jumped with happiness, flashing a big, bright smile at her sister and her dad.
As they were going to the graveyard, they met a man on their way. He was an evil farmer who had never wanted Mist's mother to live, nor her dad. He simply didn't want Mist to be happy, because she was the purest soul in the heavens or hell. His name was Grishya.
Grishya sneered, "Oh MY! Look who is here—the beautiful lady Mist. Your father is still OK even after eating the meal you cook, huh?" he said in a harsh, threatening tone.
Mist snapped back, "Grishya!! Talk with some sense, otherwise it will be very bad for your health!!" she said in a deeply annoyed tone.
Grishya was just about to say something back when, suddenly, the clouds started thundering. With a massive flash of lightning, a huge storm was about to hit the village. All the villagers got terrified and started praying to God to save the village, hoping that something would change.
Mist turned around to check on her father and Julia, only to see both of them sitting on the ground, chanting prayers. They even called out to her, telling her to join them and chant. Mist firmly refused, standing tall while all the villagers stared at her in shock.
Seeing her isolated, Grishya took his opportunity.
and said, "Look!! Guys, Isabella is refusing to pray! She must be possessed by that evil king. I saw her going into his garden and plucking flowers!!" Grishya screamed, pointing a finger at her. He then turned back to her with a sneer. "LOOK!! Mist, LOOK!! The light is coming, our future will be bright! Just go with them!"
Mist glared at him. "You!!"
She bent down toward her father, dropping to her knees, and said with absolute sincerity, "I know I've done wrong, but there is no such thing as an 'Evil King.' Father, believe me! Please."
Her father looked at her, his voice gentle and filled with love. "You're not wrong... we are just praying for good. You can do it too, honey."
Grishya cut in, his voice dripping with mockery. "Why would she do that? She thinks we are superstitious and—"
"—No!" Mist cut him off instantly. "Guys, it’s nothing like that!"
But Grishya sneered, raising his voice to drown her out. "Then tell us, are you ready to sacrifice yourself?! For the village and its people?!"
Influenced by his venomous words, the villagers agreed with him. Blinded by panic and superstition, they began throwing stones at Mist just because she refused to bow to their fear.
Her father and sister immediately threw themselves in front of her to protect her. But in the middle of the chaotic hassle, a heavy stone struck her father.
Seeing her father get hit right there in front of her, Mist's pure soul was deeply hurt. A sudden, violent rage took over her entire being. The legendary powers she never even knew she possessed suddenly burst out of her in a blinding, explosive wave. The sheer force of the energy blast pushed everyone violently back—knocking the villagers off their feet.
As the dust settled, only Grishya stood watching with a dark, satisfied grin. He was happy. His twisted plan was finally working.
When Mist was busy and distracted by her father's injury, Grishya realized he could easily take that pure soul and become the most powerful man in the world. He approached her, intending to strike, but a dark aura suddenly pushed him back, protecting her like a shield.
She was completely consumed by anger. However, when she saw everyone running away from her and staring at her as if she were a monster, the rage left her. She started crying, gathered her injured father, and took him home.
After helping her father lie down on his bed, a terrified Julia turned to her. "What was that, girl?!"
"I don't know anything," Mist replied, her voice shaking.
She turned back to her father and began gently applying medicine to his wounds. As she worked, she couldn't hold back the question burning in her mind. "Papa, why am I like this? Is there something you are hiding?!"
Her father sighed softly, closing his eyes. "Ah, girl... you're just special."
"Why, Dad?" Mist pressed.
Instead of answering, her father fell silent and pretended to fall asleep.
From the kitchen, Julia’s voice broke the heavy tension. "Papa! Mist, come, let's have dinner."
"Coming!!!" Mist called back.
She gently woke her father up, telling him it was time to eat, and helped him over to the table.
As they sat together at the table, everyone remained completely silent about what had happened that day.
