Chapter 3

The Chocolate + Jealousy*

One week later. School canteen. Lunch break.

Yuki was sitting with *Caster* from 12-B. Debate team captain. Glasses. Always top 3 with her.

*Caster*: _sliding a chocolate bar to her_ "You mentioned you like dark chocolate in biology class. Here."

*Yuki*: _beams_ "Aww Caster you remembered! Thank you!"

Ven walked in with his group. Stopped mid-step.

Saw her. Laughing. Taking chocolate from another guy.

His jaw clenched.

*Friend*: "Bro that’s-"

*Ven*: _cutting him off_ "I see it."

He walked straight to their table and dropped his tray down. Hard.

*Yuki*: _looks up_ "Ven?"

*Ven*: _cold_ "This seat’s taken."

*Caster*: "Uh but there are other-"

*Ven*: _stares at him_ "Leave."

Caster left in 2 seconds flat.

Now it was just them. Awkward. Rain hitting the canteen windows.

*Yuki*: _softly_ "You didn’t have to scare him..."

*Ven*: _poking at rice_ "I didn’t do anything."

*Yuki*: "You were jealous."

*Ven*: _chokes_ "I’m not jealous."

*Yuki*: _leans in, teasing_ "Then why are your ears red, pookie?"

*Ven*: _slams hand on table_ "DON’T CALL ME THAT."

*Yuki*: _giggles_ "Why? It suits you."

Ven sighed. Ran a hand through his hair. Finally looked at her.

*Ven*: _low, annoyed_ "Just... don’t take stuff from other guys, okay?"

*Yuki*: "Was it bad that he gave me chocolate?"

*Ven*: _mumbles_ "It was bad that it wasn’t me."

Silence.

*Yuki*: _heart melting_ "Did you just-"

*Ven*: "I SAID NOTHING. EAT."

That day the whole school learned:

Don’t give Yuki chocolates. Unless you want Ven to lose his mind.

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...

jo987_123: This is a good story, but it needs a good editor to go through this iteration and fix the mistakes. The pov changes from 1st person to 3rd person, often, and sometimes within one sentence. It needs a liberal sprinkling of punctuation marks throughout, and a decision needs to be made about the char...

Sharda: I really enjoyed the pace of this story. It was mostly realistic, but It was tough to wrap my head around that a 13-year-old boy would be so intuitive and a friend to his mom. My 13-year-old daughter is super smart and says I am her best friend so I guess it is possible. I struggled because boys usu...
