Chapter 1: "Truth or Truth... or Floor"
Lilian’s bedroom was nothing short of magnificent. The walls were painted in soft lavender, accented with gold trimming that caught the warm glow of scattered candles. A massive canopy bed dominated the center of the room, draped in sheer violet fabric that cascaded down like a waterfall of silk. Piles of plush throw pillows in every shade of purple, cream, and gold were scattered across the bed like clouds, creating what could only be described as a pillow paradise.
The aroma of vanilla and sandalwood floated through the air from several scented candles placed strategically on the vanity table, while fairy lights twinkled along the ceiling, casting a dreamy, starlit ambiance over everything. Soft, ambient lo-fi music played from a small Bluetooth speaker on the nightstand, barely audible above the girls’ excited chatter.
All six of them had already changed into their pajamas (a mix of matching silk sets, oversized cartoon shirts, and fluffy onesies. Face masks of various colors) green, pink, white, and even one that looked suspiciously like gold glitter, adorned their faces as they lounged on Lilian’s impossibly large bed.
Lilian herself lay sprawled in the center, her silk pajama set the color of deep plum, her long blonde hair fanned out beneath her. She stretched her arms above her head like a satisfied cat and announced, “Welcome to... Slumber Glam Night!”
Naila, curled up in the corner hugging a pillow shaped like a crescent moon, glanced around the room with wide eyes. “This bed is so big... it could probably fit a whole classroom.”
Amy, the youngest of the group, was already tearing open a bag of chips, her pink unicorn onesie making her look like she’d just escaped from a children’s cartoon. “Hey, let’s do a sleepover, but please, no horror stuff. I’m scared of... kitchen ghosts.”
Chima raised one perfectly arched eyebrow, her expression hovering somewhere between amused and unimpressed. “...What exactly is a kitchen ghost?”
Perra was too busy posing with a lipstick-shaped pillow to pay attention, tilting her head this way and that, her phone held at the perfect angle to capture the soft glow of the fairy lights reflecting off her face. “Focus, guys. We need to play something tonight. I vote Truth or Dare.”
Aslyn, whose athletic build was evident even in her loose-fitting gym shorts and tank top, shot Lilian a knowing look. “...But Lilian said dares are on vacation.”
Lilian lifted her index finger with elegant precision, a mischievous smile curling at the corners of her lips. “Exactly. So we’re playing: Truth or Truth.” She paused for dramatic effect, letting the silence build before adding, “And... whoever gets caught lying... SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR.”
Gasps erupted around the room.
“THE FLOOR?!” they chorused in unison.
Amy clutched her chip bag protectively. “Wait, seriously? The floor is freezing, you know!”
Chima’s lips curled into a sadistic grin that sent a shiver through the room. “Perfect for hearts full of lies.”
They arranged themselves in a circle on the massive bed, knees almost touching, faces illuminated by the soft glow of the fairy lights above. Amy produced an empty soda bottle she’d been saving for this exact purpose, placing it in the center of their circle with theatrical reverence.
“Spin it, spin it!” Perra urged, already positioning her phone to capture the moment. “This is content!”
Amy gave the bottle a firm twist, and they all watched with bated breath as it spun round and round, finally slowing to a stop, its neck pointing directly at Naila.
Chima’s eyes gleamed with predatory delight. “Naila. First question.” She leaned forward, her expression sharp. “Have you ever pretended to be sick just to get out of PE?”
Naila’s face went pale in an instant. “E... e... no...”
She didn’t even finish the word before the entire room erupted in a chorus of protests.
“LIAR!” Aslyn was already on her feet, grabbing a plush towel from the nearby chair and dramatically spreading it on the floor. “I SAW you fake a fainting spell during the SKJ aerobics routine last month!”
Naila’s shoulders slumped in defeat. “...I was sleepy that day, okay? For real.”
Lilian pointed an elegant finger toward the floor, her expression that of a queen passing judgment. “Please proceed. The bed awaits no liar.”
The bottle spun once more, its dance sending it circling around before it pointed decisively at Perra. She was mid-selfie, tongue slightly out, peace sign raised, and she barely lowered her phone as Amy readied her question.
“Perra...” Amy began, her voice taking on a mischievous quality that reminded everyone she was the youngest but definitely not the most innocent. “Have you ever edited your selfies so much that your face looked sixty percent different?”
Perra didn’t even flinch. Her smile remained serene, practiced, perfect. “Of course not, darling. That’s just ridiculous.” She paused, tilting her head as if considering something. “Only fifty-eight percent.”
The room went silent for exactly three seconds before Chima burst out laughing.
“...We’ll count that as honest,” she declared, wiping a fake tear from her eye. “You live to see another round.”
Aslyn was the one whose turn it was to question, and she directed her gaze toward Lilian with a knowing smirk.
“Lilian...” she began slowly, dragging out the name. “Have you ever used hotel soap and then... taken the bottle home with you?”
Lilian’s face remained perfectly composed. Her chin lifted slightly, eyes narrowing with practiced dignity. There was a long, drawn-out silence that seemed to stretch for an eternity.
“...That’s not stealing,” she said finally, her voice dripping with haughty justification. “That’s... souvenir collecting. I’m aesthetic.”
Amy, who had been quietly observing, pointed toward the corner of the room where a collection of tiny hotel toiletries were arranged artfully on a small shelf, enough bottles to fill an entire suitcase.
“That’s... a whole suitcase full, sis,” Amy whispered, her voice a mix of awe and amusement.
Chima crossed her arms, grinning like a shark. “FLOOR. NOW.”
“NOOOO!” Lilian’s composure finally cracked as she clutched her pillow protectively. “My skin cannot touch non-goose-feather surfaces! I’ll break out! I’ll—”
“The floor, Lilian,” Chima repeated, her tone final.
The bottle’s neck settled on Amy, who immediately stiffened, her eyes darting around the room as if searching for an escape route.
Perra leaned forward, her sweet smile betraying nothing but mischief. “Amy... have you ever intentionally cooked something disgusting just to prank us?”
Amy blinked once. Twice. Then a slow, devilish grin spread across her face. “Hehehe... yeah.”
The room exploded.
“AMY?!?!”
The youngest member of their group shrugged, looking entirely unrepentant. “But hey, at least I’m honest, right?” She patted the mattress beside her smugly. “The bed stays mine.”
Now it was Naila’s turn to ask, and despite her naturally shy demeanor, she saw an opportunity for sweet, sweet revenge.
“Chima...” Naila began, her voice barely above a whisper. “Have you ever... secretly cried while watching a Korean drama?”
Chima’s eyes snapped up, sharp as daggers. For a moment, her expression was unreadable, a fortress of impassivity. But then—just barely—a flush of pink crept up her cheeks.
“...Yes,” she admitted through gritted teeth. “But that’s because... the character reminded me of Kitty when she was crying.”
Perra immediately melted. “Oh my God, that’s so cute!”
Chima shoved a pillow at Perra’s face, her cheeks now burning bright red. “Shut up, you.”
The bottle rotated lazily, moving past Chima, skirting around Naila, and finally coming to rest pointing directly at Aslyn.
Lilian, still sulking on the floor with her pillow and a towel for a makeshift blanket, perked up enough to ask her question. “Aslyn...” she began, a sly smile forming. “Do you have a secret boyfriend besides Axel?”
Aslyn’s reaction was immediate and violent. She sat bolt upright, eyes wide, arms flying up in defense. “WHAT?! NO, I DON’T! I’M LOYAL!”
All five of them stared at her, eyes narrowed in assessment.
Perra giggled first. “I think she’s telling the truth. She’s too busy running laps around the stadium to cheat on anyone.”
The night wore on, and eventually, the game wound down. Naila and Lilian had accepted their fate, dragging extra blankets and pillows to the floor. They lay side by side, staring up at the canopy bed where the others were sprawled out comfortably, scrolling through their phones and watching a movie on Lilian’s tablet.
Naila pulled her thick jacket tighter around herself. “Why does honesty have to hurt so much...”
Lilian lay beside her, her prized goose-feather pillow beneath her head, though the rest of her body was on the cold floor. “Tomorrow,” she declared, her voice filled with determination, “I’m buying the fluffiest carpet. The most expensive one.”
Amy called down from the bed, her voice muffled by a mouthful of chips. “As long as it’s not bubblegum-scented soap again, right~?”
A pillow flew up from the floor, hitting Amy square in the face.
To be continued...
