1.) Feelings.
It was a sunny, hot day at UA High; class was in session. Tenya Iida was sitting a row behind Todoroki with his pencil in hand, yet something felt off. Todoroki was acting different.
A tapping rhythm in Iida's pen was in sync with Todoroki's bouncing leg. The raven-haired boy's eyes darted to Todoroki as he noticed the uneasy energy that had been flowing in the atmosphere from the front of the room. He began to worry, and thoughts overfilled his head. Iida had no focus whatsoever, which is a VERY rare sight to see.
The gust of wind caught Iida's attention, and he daydreams for quite a while. Soon enough the bell rang, and everyone got up, getting ready to leave.
“Hey Iida! Ready to head to lunch?” Izuku Midoriya's friendly smile can’t even get Iida's attention; Iida quickly packed his stuff back in his bag. He rushes past Izuku and the crowd of people in front of him. Todoroki's half red and split white hair is far past the crowd of people, and Iida rushes past them.
“Todoroki!” Iida's hand reaches out, guiding himself through the crowd, his polite apologies as he passes through people to get to Shoto. The crowd clears up, yet no Todoroki. Iida pushes his glasses up and lets out a sigh; footsteps rush behind him, Izuku followed by Uraraka and Tsu.
“Iida, you alright? Ribbit!” Tsu asks; the other two's eyes scan Iida for anything wrong.
“Yeah, I'm perfectly fine! Will you excuse me please? I won't attend lunch with you guys this evening.” Iida, without a second thought, rushes up the stairs and up to the rooftop.
“First Todoroki left us, now Iida?” Izuku sighs; Ochako grabs Izuku's hand.
“Maybe that’s the reason why Iida was in such a rush. That’s none of our business as of right now; let's head to lunch!” Her head turns to Tsu, and she smiles softly, her pink cheeks lighting up.
Iida slams the rooftop door open as he looks around to find a red and half white-haired boy eating an onigiri rice ball. His peaceful gaze studies the pink sunsetting sky, then darts to meet Iida's. Iida quickly fixes his shirt and hair as he slowly walks toward the shorter male. Clearing his throat, he asks...
“Sorry for disturbing your peace, Todoroki, may I sit here with you?” The sight of his beautiful half-blue and grey eyes sends Iida; his heart skips a beat, and his deep voice starts to stutter uncontrollably.
“I-If you prefer me to leave, that is no problem a..as well,” Iida says, stepping a few feet back before getting cut off.
“No- No, no...you can sit here.” Todoroki pats the spot next to him.
Iida smiles, walking over and taking a seat next to Shoto. He unzips his lunch box, and he takes out a packaged cream bread.
“I packed one this morning; I'm not quite in the mood to eat. Would you like this?” He’d hand the cream bread to Todoroki just for it to be pushed back at him.
“I-uh... no thanks! I would feel bad taking someone’s lun-”
“Oh, but I Insist! I already have a sandwich, this cream bread is just for you!” Iida would hand it back to Shoto.
Shoto's face flushed a pink color before he tilted his head down.
“Thank you, Iida-”
“Stop being so proper! We’ve known each other for three years, don’t be silly!” Iida laid his hand on Todoroki's shoulder.
The eye contact the two share between each other brings heat to Iida's cheeks; his hand quickly lets go of him, and Tenya starts to unwrap his sandwich. A small laugh peeps out from Todoroki as he takes his first bite out of the cream bread.
Iida's stomach starts to become a butterfly net. Butterflies swarm his stomach like crazy as he sees the cream settle on Shoto's plum pink lips, the sound of his laugh echoing on repeat in his mind. Tenya fidgets with the foil that's wrapped around his sandwich, and he speaks up.
“How come you haven’t been coming to lunch anymore? We miss you a lot.” Iida's eyes wander up and down Todoroki's figure, his tone softened a bit. A long silence remains between the two before Todoroki shifts his body more towards the opposite side of Iida's sight.
“No one misses me,” Todoroki mumbles under his breath; his eyes look down away from Iida.
“Hey! But that’s not true, I d-”
“If you're going to come up here to talk about 'Feelings' and 'Baby' me, then you can leave. I like my alone time anyways. Matter of fact, better solution, I'll leave.” Todoroki grabs his things, gets up, and walks away. The rooftop door slammed behind him, leaving Iida with a painful 'pang' in his heart.
Nothing but silence remains; Todoroki never showed feelings in such a way, and Iida would never expect that to affect him as well. Tenya can recall hearing a voice break, along with teary eyes, before Todoroki stormed off like that.
His overthinking started to grow even more as he wondered what he could do to help the situation other than keep some space between the two.
