Fallen Angel

Angels are real, it’s true, for I have met one. Don’t believe me? Then let me tell you the story of a young thief who dared steal from Heaven…

Once upon a time, there was an angel, she was a most beautiful angel and she wished to look down from Heaven and see the Earth. She went to the edge of Heaven, and leaned over, hoping to steal a glimpse of the Earth. She leaned out, farther, farther. And suddenly, she lost her balance and fell from Heaven. She fell all the way to the earth, her wings turned black from the fall and she immediately began to find a way back to Heaven. She tried flying back to her home but it was too far away, all the while attempting to adjust to this new world. It was far more ugly tan she had imagined, and she simply wished to be back home. She had always been intrigued by this whole other world, so close yet so far away from her own. While still adjusting this new world, and find her back, she meets many people. And she always remembered to hide her wings when she was not alone. One day, there’s a boy who looked upon her and was stricken by her beauty. He knew he had to meet her and wanted to know more about her. And so he went and introduced himself and they quickly became friends. He was not the nicest of people, he made horrible jokes, and could be terribly mean yet she stayed his friend. The boy, who had not ever had many true friends was delighted to find someone like this girl. She would laugh and smile and the boy began to truly like her. He had never experienced this before and so he thought it was simply friendship he wished for and to know his friend even better. But he was falling in love, without even knowing it. The angel was as well, though she didn’t know what she was feeling either. They both simply knew they were happy as they were and neither wished to lose that. They had taken each other from their sadness and could make eachother laugh and be happy. There never seemed to be any awkward silences or lulls in the conversations. They became closer and closer as time passed. They became so close, that they would occasionally even sleep during the day together, her curled up with him. They were content and simply happy. Finally the boy found the courage to truly ask the angel to be with him, he was overjoyed when she said yes. The boy, who thought he would never find his true happiness, was happier than he had ever been. He knew her secret, he knew she would have to leave eventually but that was all the more reason to make the time he had with her the happiest. And so he set out to do just that. The first bright moment in their relationship was the moment they’re lips first touched. The boy had been sleeping and the angel could not wake him, so she decided to wake him with a kiss. She bent down and stole their first kiss, both of theirs, in an instant. It only became brighter from there, the boy made every opportunity he could to spend time with his beautiful fallen angel. To see that incredible smile light up her face. To see that sparkle of mischief in her eyes. To burn these images and memories into his brain so that he would never forget his time with his fallen angel. Eventually, as he knew, she finally found a way home again. It had only been about 2 years since she had fallen from Heaven and then met this boy. And in that short time, they found what most people never can, love. The boy made a promise to his angel, he said to her, “I shall always love you.” And when she asked, “Forever and Always?” He shook his head and said to her, “No. My love for you is different than how anyone else loves, it is greater and eternal. It shall be Always and Forever.” As he said this he gave her one final kiss goodbye. And so, the angel smiled, even as tears ran down her cheeks, and whispered to her young thief who wished to steal from Heaven and had stolen her heart, “I’m so sorry, my love” and she vanished. The boy, who had been holding his sadness back this entire time, began to cry silently. Over the loss of his love, the angel whom he knew he could never have lived with forever yet had still hoped. He spoke to the empty air, hoping that somehow his words would reach her, “Don’t be sorry my love, I knew. I always knew what would happen, I am but a lowly thief that tried to steal from Heaven. I knew I could never get away with it, but I cherish every moment I stole.”

The angel made it back to heaven and chose to keep her black wings. They were a reminder of her love and is promise. She would never forget the man who stole the heart of an angel.

The boy, true to his word loved his angel always and forever, never finding someone else to love. He lived his life, always lonely, always hoping he would one day turn around or look to the sky and see his fallen angel one last time.

So you see, angels are real. Just ask the thief.
