The last thing he remembered was complete darkness, accompanied by overwhelming pain. A pain he couldn’t quite define, let alone describe in his own words. An ache that left him unable to move a single limb. Although she wasn’t entirely certain he even had any.
Added to this was a terrible pressure in his head that prevented him from thinking clearly. Consequently, he could only hope this strange numbness would subside. Even if his head didn’t hurt, his mind was still terribly muddled. He desperately tried to gather his thoughts, to understand where he was.
After a dozen attempts, he finally managed to open his heavy eyelids. It wasn’t as easy as he thought, made worse by the fact that it took him a while. His eyes adjusted to the darkness around him. That was when he began to realize where he actually was.
It was no wonder his heart leaped into his throat and his blood began to race through his veins. He wanted to scream, but he couldn’t utter a single sound, and it began to drive him mad. He tried to free himself, but instead, all he heard was the clang of metal.
That was because he was strapped to a table, which later turned out to be made of metal. It was no wonder he felt this uncontrollable numbness from there, for the metal was incredibly cold. With each passing moment, he became increasingly aware that he was in some deserted doctor’s office, like something out of a horror movie.
For the life of him, he couldn’t remember how he’d gotten there. Let alone who had placed him in this ghastly place, that was for sure. A musty stench permeated the air, making it impossible for him to draw breath. If he didn’t die at the hands of a psychopath, he would probably die of suffocation.
At first, he heard several people talking to each other. Discussing the next steps for some nefarious experiment they were planning. Then he realized they were referring to him, the subject of said experiment. It was no wonder, then, that he opened his eyes briefly to see who they were.
Because, no matter how you look at it, he was the subject of this very experiment. Shortly afterward, he heard the terrifying clang of a door opening, which was probably also made of metal. Through it, a dim, gray-white light flooded the room. Through it, he saw that there was dried blood on the walls, furniture, and probably the floor. That’s where he smelled the strange metallic smell that, besides the stench, permeated the place.
Then his hair stood on end as he saw translucent beings floating around him, screaming silently. It was no wonder, then, that opening his eyes had been a complete mistake; he was one hundred percent sure of that! But there was no turning back, and all he could do was mutter under his breath, how stupid he was.
„ want to go home!,” [Y/N] squealed after a moment, because that was the only thing he could think of at the moment.
As soon as they flashed through his mind, people he didn’t recognize began entering the room. And yet, this one was stranger than the last one, or rather, more terrifying. [Y/N] was so taken aback by the sight, confused, that he forgot to pull away, let alone scream in fear.
Three of them wore masks, so he couldn’t tell what they looked like beyond their silhouettes. Another one looked like a nurse, but she, too, was suspicious, in his opinion. Especially since he was one hundred percent sure he heard the male voice she was using.
Which irritated him greatly, because he didn’t know how to address this person. But that wasn’t the most important thing right now, because he had to focus on what they were about to do. And that was the most important thing to him right now, and he couldn’t miss anything.
„What are these messed-up people?!,” [Y/N] asked himself, completely forgetting about the other two people.
People who were barely visible because of the dim light. With each passing moment, he wanted to wake up from this nightmare more and more, but it was no use.
From there, he slowly began to realize that this wasn’t a dream after all, but a reality. Consequently, his short life was truly in danger, and he could lose it at any moment. Which didn’t mean he wasn’t going to let that happen. When he decided to try to break free once again.
He noticed the pseudo-nurse approaching one of them, whose face she still couldn’t see. She began to whisper something in his ear, but he couldn’t hear what it was. Instead, the other one, standing next to him, turned on a dim light just above the table so he could get a better look at him.
Although he realized that in his deranged eyes, he was merely an object of study. The mere sight of him made his heart leap into his throat again. And fear began to take over him again. Then the nurse approached the table and said something to the one who had been leaning over him a moment ago.
Slightly irritated, he turned and walked toward the other one. Consequently, leaving him and the nurse alone for a while. When he wanted to say something, she, or rather he, beat her to it. And how he knew this, he couldn’t figure out at the moment, and he didn’t want to.
„Everything will be fine, we’ll save you soon! You have to look like you know nothing about this, okay?,” He leaned over him and relayed what his real boss had told him.
That’s why he added a question at the end, to make sure he understood correctly. And he was looking at him as if he’d fallen off a Christmas tree. However, he had no idea how they would react to what he was about to tell them. Truth be told, he wasn’t sure what to say to their words if he heard them.
„And why should I believe you and the other that you’re not, including the other one, huh?,” [Y/N] replied quietly, not having the slightest chance of believing them that he was telling the truth, that they would save him.
To him, the other two looked just as messed up as the other one. That’s why he answered the way he did, and he clung to it for now. What he half-expected was that they weren’t happy with what they heard from him. Which was somewhat understandable, because anyone in their shoes would have reacted the same way.
„Ugh... I’m not surprised you don’t believe us, but I’m still asking you to pretend, that’s all I’m asking of you!,” he replied resignedly, after a moment, straightening up and leaving the table without waiting for his answer.
Now he was completely confused, because he didn’t know what to think about it at all. It seemed the other two weren’t with that crazy doctor. However, he wasn’t one hundred percent sure about that. And that was because he had just started preparing the instruments for the operation.
That almost sent him into a heart attack and into the next world. Now all he could do was hope that the nurse covered in dried blood was telling the truth. Compared to this madman, she looked like she had everything in place. Which meant he wasn’t going crazy, which was good news for him.
„So, is everything ready?,” he heard another male voice, one that didn’t belong to the nurse.
It took him a moment to realize it belonged to the one she’d been quietly talking to. He hadn’t expected him to have such a magnetic, mysterious tone. If this had been any other situation, he probably would have been interested, but not in a moment like this.
And as he quietly approached the light, he could finally see his expression. The same as the nurses, because the rest were wearing masks and had no intention of taking them off. Truth be told, he wasn’t his type, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t handsome.
Try as hard as he tried, he couldn’t tear his eyes away. He was wearing bloodstained doctor’s uniform, if he was mistaken about that. The sight made his heart skip a beat again. It was as if he were the right hand of the one in charge.
Yet he was able to believe they would be able to get out of here. Considering his mind was still blank, for which he couldn’t find an explanation. As if someone had given him something, and he couldn’t remember anything. That would explain his strange emptiness, though he couldn’t be sure of that either.
The numbness was slowly fading, and with it, he could finally regain feeling in his body. And yet, he was surprised that he was still able to answer the other person’s questions. He closed his eyes again so the other person wouldn’t notice he’d woken up. He didn’t want to be dosed again and lose consciousness.
