●◇CHAPTER 1 ~ THE TRAIN RIDE◇●

AUTHOR'S POV~

The engine train runs in a rather moderate speed carrying hundreds of children, and teens to their destined homes where people are kind enough to offer them shelter during this war time when their real home is the most vulnerable place ever.

The Pevensie siblings- Peter,Susan,Edmund and Lucy are no different and in the same train with wooden seats and holders inside the train. Peter, being the eldest and most responsible among them...well Susan and Edmund doesn't agrees on that- helped the youngest and sweetest- Lucy carry her smaller suitcase.

"This is the one" peter muttered checking the compartment number once again and before he could open the door, Susan did making him roll his eyes lightly. However, to their amusement(except Edmund, who cares less), they find a passenger already inside...a girl.

She was calmly reading a book- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen- before looking up slowly at the sound of the door slid opening. Her rare shade of dark purplish black eyes falls on Susan first.

"Oh Hi...we'll be your travel companions here" Susan said giving the unknown girl a rather awkward smile as she remained silent while her rare shaded orbs followed Susan who sighed taking a seat beside her.

And then entered Edmund- the most troublesome, nonchalant Pevensie sibling, who hates this whole idea of leaving home for taking shelter in someone's home. She saw him grumble and plop beside Susan, so Susan now was between her and Edmund, who didnot even care to greet the girl making her frown in mild annoyance.

After him, the sweet Lucy came in who was fussing about missing their mother already sadly as Susan tried to cheer her up. But, Lucy was quickly silenced on seeing the girl's rare dark purplish-black eyes....making the little girl's lips part slightly in awe leading her to momentarily forget about everything. She definitely found the girl beautiful.

"Lucy...get in" Now that's what caught the girl's attention. The not so deep, but honeyed voice of the eldest pevensie- Peter who ushered lucy in, following her. Peter too saw her and he too like Susan and lucy was bewildered at the girl's rare orbs which surely looked like galaxies of millions of stars around....utterly mesmerizing.

He, but, soon realised that he was staring for quite some time and so clearing his throat lightly, he helped Lucy sit on the opposite wooden seat to the one where the girl, Susan and Edmund sat.

"She's so beautiful Peter" lucy whispered to Peter, but her whisper was loud for everyone to hear- including her. Peter didnot respond back to Lucy and gave a rather small smile...not agreeing to her words, but not denying her either. He then sat beside Lucy...and right infront of her brushing his blonde hairs with his fingers avoiding to look straight at this stranger girl.

Meanwhile, the girl tried to focus back on her book rather then dwelling on the fact that a handsome, blonde boy was sitting right across her, tucking a strand of her black wavy locks behind her ear. For a long time, there was silence in the compartment- Edmund leaning forward, resting his elbows on his knees looking sideways out of the window of the moving train, Susan reading like the girl, Lucy more focused on the girl's face with an awed and adorable expression and peter leaned his head back on the resting, headboard of the seat with arms crossed and eyes closed.

Lucy however, finally mustered up her courage to talk to this beautiful stranger.

"You have beautiful eyes miss" she said with her shy yet politely soft tone, fearing if the girl would ignore her or say something back. But thankfully ...she did respond back, looking up from her book..

"Thank you...you have beautiful hairs too" her voice was warm, soft and extremely melodious- like wind chimes in a summer afternoon. Lucy's eyes widened and a grin formed on her lips, cheeks tinting pink from her kind words. Susan finally looked at the girl. And Peter? He would never say it...but he was hit by something like first sun rays in a cold, wartime situation hearing her beautiful voice.

"What is your name?" The girl this time asked herself first cause she genuinely found lucy adorable and innocent. Lucy replied instantly. "I am Lucy Pevensie"

"Nice meeting you Lucy Pevensie...I am Evelyn Burgham" she introduced herself and Peter looked at her properly, fully this time while she smiled at Lucy who grinned, pronouncing her name.

EVELYN....

"Nice meeting you Evelyn. I am Susan Pevensie, he is Edmund....and over there is- Peter" susan finally spoke politely, who too was awed at Evelyn's kind words to lucy, her voice and her beauty. Evelyn nodded giving her a kind smile before turning towards Peter.

And her smile faltered slightly...not because Peter was being rude, but because of his intense stare with those blue eyes of his. In so many weeks of this wartime era, Evelyn felt nervous not due to fear of being almost killed or due to fear of being captured by any enemy captors...but because of this one handsome boy staring right through her soul with both amusement and awe!

"Nice meeting you Miss Evelyn" he finally said giving her a gentle smile with his moderately, perfect deep velvety voice making her push down the sudden heat crawl upto her neck.

"Yes...me too" she somehow uttered giving each of them her warm smile, ignoring the flick of her heart strings due to Peter.

"Where are you heading to Evelyn?" Lucy asked excitedly with sparkly eyes and Evelyn thanked her internally to save her from blushing cause of her older brother's deep voice and stare.

"To Professor Diggory Kirke's home" Evelyn revealed smiling and there was silence for a moment in the compartment and even Edmund seems to be in mildly surprised this time.

" US TOO!" both Susan and Lucy said quite loudly in sync making Evelyn flinch lightly but compose herself quickly until she realised...

She wasn't the only one who would be sheltered by Professor kirke...but also these four siblings...among whom, one made her feel nervous for the first time in so long.....

This was going to be one hell of a rollercoaster ride...she thought so...
