The Sacrifice
I'm driving with no destination in mind, just trying to get as far away as possible.
The road ahead looks more like a valley, filled with sharp curves and dangerous turns. Rainwater covers the road, making the tires slip every now and then.
Blood drips from the wound on my forehead. It slowly reaches my eyes, making my vision blur.
Still...
I keep driving. I have to.
I can't let him catch me.
The rain grows heavier, hitting the windshield so hard that it's becoming difficult to see anything ahead.
My hands tighten around the steering wheel. My heart pounds painfully against my chest. Every second feels longer than the last.
My body is getting weaker. My eyelids grow heavier. For a moment...
I lose focus.
Just one second.
But one second is enough. The car loses control.
The tires skid across the wet road before crashing straight into a huge rock. The impact sends pain through my entire body.
Everything goes still.
I guess...
This is the end.
My vision fades in and out. At first, I hear nothing.
Then... Voices.
People shouting. Running.
A crowd begins to gather around the car. Most of them are dressed in black.
But one person catches my attention. A man.
Unlike everyone else, he's dressed completely in white. I can't see his face clearly.
The blood in my eyes and the rain outside make everything look blurry. Still...
I can tell he's tall.
At least six feet.
Maybe more.
His body is well-built, and his long hair falls to his shoulders, slightly wet from the rain. For some reason...
I can't take my eyes off him. He slowly walks toward me. One step at a time.
As if he already knows there's nowhere left for me to run. My heartbeat grows faster.
He stops in front of me and crouches down. A faint scent of perfume reaches me.
It's strange...
Yet oddly familiar.
With everything happening around me... That's the one thing I notice.
A few drops of rain fall from his hair onto his face. Now that he's closer...
I can finally see him clearly. And for a second...
I forget how to breathe.
His deep brown eyes meet mine. There's something about them. Something unsettling.
Something that pulls me in without permission. A small smile appears on his lips.
Then he leans a little closer. His voice is husky.
Calm. Dominating.
"You can't escape from me, babygirl." A shiver runs through my body.
And then...
Everything goes black.
