Summary

The Celestial Empire is divided into five royal houses. For centuries they have ruled together. Until a prophecy appears. "The woman carrying the Moon Crown shall either save the world... or destroy it." Princess Lyriana Moonveil becomes that woman. And everyone wants her. Kings. Princes. Saints. Gods. Monsters. Even fate itself. Among them is Prince Kaelan Astraviel. A forgotten prince. A young man destined to die before reaching adulthood. At least... That was his fate before the System awakened.

Chapter 1: Moonlit Distance

The moon was beautiful tonight.

Too beautiful.

Lyriana hated it.

Because every time she looked at the moon...

She remembered him.

Not Kaelan.

Orion.

The man from her memories.

The man who smiled at Selene.

The man who knelt beneath a moonlit sky.

The man who promised forever.

And somehow...

That memory refused to leave her heart.

MOONVEIL DORMITORY

MIDNIGHT

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Lyriana stood by the window.

Silver moonlight illuminated her face.

The academy slept peacefully.

Yet she couldn’t.

Not anymore.

Ever since the Moonlight Ball...

Everything had changed.

The memories.

The emotions.

The dreams.

Every night she saw fragments.

Broken pieces of a life that wasn’t hers.

A woman laughing.

A black-haired king smiling.

A crimson-eyed knight watching from afar.

Then sadness.

Always sadness.

The same unbearable sadness.

Lyriana frowned.

“What does that even mean?”

The System didn’t answer.

As usual.

THE NEXT MORNING

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Royal Academy.

Students filled the walkways.

The academy had already moved on from the Eclipse King’s appearance.

Mostly.

Now they had new gossip.

Much more important gossip.

Kaelan Astraviel.

And Lyriana Moonveil.

The academy’s favorite topic.

Unfortunately.

Cassian had contributed heavily.

Very heavily.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

MAIN COURTYARD

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Kaelan stepped through the academy gates.

Freshly returned from the Imperial Palace.

Students immediately noticed.

Whispers spread.

Rumors followed.

The Second Prince was back.

Several girls sighed.

Several boys looked annoyed.

The usual.

Then—

Kaelan’s eyes found her.

Instantly.

Like they always did.

The moon blossom tree.

Silver hair.

Blue eyes.

Lyriana.

The world seemed quieter.

Smaller.

Warmer.

Just for a moment.

Kaelan nearly walked into a pillar.

Again.

The System was becoming increasingly embarrassing.

Meanwhile...

Lyriana looked up.

And saw him.

For some reason...

Her heartbeat quickened.

Just slightly.

Not enough to worry about.

Probably.

Maybe.

Definitely.

She immediately looked back at her book.

Pretending to read.

The same page.

For the sixth time.

Kaelan smiled.

Because she always did that when nervous.

And somehow...

That realization made him happy.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

“Good morning.”

The voice came from directly in front of her.

Lyriana looked up.

Kaelan stood there.

Smiling.

The familiar smile made her chest feel strangely warm.

“Good morning.”

For a moment—

Neither spoke.

Neither moved.

The silence wasn’t uncomfortable.

Just peaceful.

Comfortable.

Like sitting beside a fireplace during winter.

“How was the palace?”

Lyriana asked.

Kaelan sighed.

“Complicated.”

“I expected that.”

“I think the Emperor knows something.”

She tilted her head.

“About the prophecy?”

Kaelan nodded.

The smile disappeared.

Both remembered the same thing.

The Eclipse King.

The stolen crown.

The approaching war.

The future felt uncertain.

Dangerous.

Yet somehow...

Being together made it feel easier.

LATER

ACADEMY LIBRARY

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The afternoon passed quietly.

The academy library remained peaceful.

For once.

No explosions.

No monsters.

No assassins.

A miracle.

Kaelan sat across from Lyriana.

Reading.

Or pretending to read.

Mostly pretending.

Because every few minutes—

One of them would glance up.

Only to discover the other was already looking.

Then both would immediately look away.

Again.

And again.

And again.

Cassian watched from a nearby table.

Deeply disappointed.

“Hopeless.”

Draven nodded.

“Painfully hopeless.”

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

SUNSET

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The academy slowly emptied.

Students returned to dormitories.

Classes ended.

The day grew quiet.

Kaelan and Lyriana walked together.

No destination.

No purpose.

Just walking.

The setting sun painted the sky gold.

The moment felt peaceful.

Then—

A strong wind suddenly blew through the courtyard.

Lyriana lost her balance.

Only slightly.

But before she could fall—

A hand caught hers.

Warm.

Strong.

Gentle.

Kaelan.

For a moment...

Time stopped.

Neither moved.

Neither spoke.

Lyriana stared at their joined hands.

Her heartbeat accelerated.

Dangerously.

Then—

Kaelan slowly released her.

Almost reluctantly.

“Are you alright?”

She nodded.

Unable to answer immediately.

Because her heart was being extremely uncooperative.

UNKNOWN LOCATION

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Deep within ancient ruins...

A crimson moon illuminated a ruined throne.

Lucien sat alone.

Silent.

Watching.

Waiting.

Seven shadows knelt before him.

The Eclipse Apostles.

The strongest servants of the Eclipse King.

Monsters capable of destroying nations.

Lucien slowly opened his eyes.

Ancient sorrow lingered within them.

Then he spoke.

A single command.

One that would shake the continent.

“Begin.”

The Apostles bowed.

Instantly.

And somewhere far away...

An ancient seal shattered.

The first Apostle had awakened.

The Crimson Eclipse had begun.
