Chapter 1-Dead sun

I could feel my nails claw at the dirt. As I ran, the light breeze ruffled through my fur. I could feel the mental link between myself and Devon as he sat in a prison cell. My brother whined quietly as I pushed myself faster to get to our Alpha, who sat in the clearing just ahead. I got close enough to see him pacing across the grass. His lip curled up as he looked at me don’t give me that look I thought to him. All of this Is your fault He snarled, and the mental tone gave me a fair indication of just how mad he was. It would do no good looking back, he snapped his jaws at me even though it was my fault my brother lay in the Kings castle, locked in a cell. Humans thought we shouldn't be alive. All they ever did was hunt us down never giving us a chance. Sis, don’t beat yourself up, my brother sent his thoughts to me. I whimpered in response as I paced; I waited with our Alpha for the rest of our pack. At last, they arrived and gathered around us. Our Alpha stopped in front of me growling, he directed his thought towards me You will stay here

But!

No, you got him in there. I will not have any interruptions.

He’s my brother, my family, my blood. I can’t just sit here!

You will do as I say and bow down!

The force of his command was strong. I had no choice but to fall on my belly, head down, ears tight against my head. I watched as everyone practiced their stances, sharpened their claws and teeth and readied themselves for war against the humans. As the man at the castle gate peeked out, I heard the gruff tone of my Alpha inside of my mind: We are here to battle for our fallen brother, to release him from his prison. If you die tonight, you do not die in vain. You will die a champion. My pack members all growled and roared: We are ready! Every wolf’s stance shifted as they crouched.

Go!

With that, all paws were racing. They passed my still form and I watched as they ran into the night to recover their fallen pack mate. My brother.
