Chapter 1
Seo Jun was a 21-year-old Korean omega. He had lived in Germany for many years and worked as a successful lawyer. He was disciplined, calm, and extremely dedicated to his work. He had never been late for a single hearing.
But today, luck wasn't on his side.
When he left home to go to work that morning, his bus started moving right in front of him. He paused for a moment, then took a deep breath and started running. He was trying to save time by going through back streets.
As he quickly turned the corner, he bumped into someone hard.
He lost his balance and fell to the ground.
"I'm sorry..." he said, hastily getting to his feet.
The moment he looked up, his eyes widened in fear.
Standing before him was a tall man in a black suit, surrounded by bodyguards, with a stern gaze. Everyone around him was silent. Even a single glance from him was enough to instill fear.
Seo Jun froze for a few seconds.
But he didn't show his fear. He straightened his clothes, his expression turned cold again, and bowed his head slightly, apologizing once more.
"I apologize again."
Without further delay, he turned and continued running.
---
He arrived at the courthouse breathless.
The trial was already five minutes away.
He quickly entered his room, put on his robe, and without resting, went to the courtroom.
His first case that day was a divorce case for a woman who had suffered domestic violence from her husband for years.
Seo Jun presented the evidence to the court one by one. He refuted all the objections of the opposing side and successfully defended his client.
At the end of the exhausting trial, which lasted for hours, he won the case.
He took a deep breath as he left the courtroom.
He got himself an americano from a nearby cafe. Then he sat on a bench in front of the courthouse and lit a cigarette.
As the smoke slowly rose into the sky, the man he had bumped into that morning came to mind.
Who was he?
Why were there so many bodyguards around him?
He shuddered for a moment.
Then he shook his head.
"We probably won't meet again."
He took the last sip of his coffee and stood up.
---
There was still time before his next hearing.
He returned to his room to prepare.
When he opened the door, he saw someone he didn't want to see inside.
Lukas.
He was the person he couldn't stand the most at work.
Seo Jun completely ignored him, went to his desk, and started organizing his files.
Lukas was annoyed by this attitude.
"You're ignoring me again."
Seo Jun didn't answer.
Lukas approached the desk and spoke with a sarcastic smile.
"I'm a dominant alpha, Seo Jun. Learn to treat me with a little more respect."
Seo Jun didn't even lift his eyes from his file.
This angered Lukas even more.
"Sometimes you need to be reminded of your place, omegas like you."
Seo Jun finally looked up.
His gaze was icy.
"Lukas."
His tone was calm.
"Being an alpha doesn't give you the right to belittle people."
The air in the room suddenly grew heavy.
Seo Jun stood up and continued, looking him in the eyes.
"Also, I suggest you look at your own file."
The smile vanished from Lukas's face.
"What do you mean?"
"We both know why you're still working here."
Seo Jun smiled slightly.
"If I start talking about the irregularities you've committed, you won't leave this room as a lawyer."
Lukas's face turned deathly pale.
He thought no one knew this secret.
He left the room without saying a word.
Seo Jun took a deep breath as the door closed.
Finally, silence had returned.
---
He glanced at his watch.
His next hearing was about to begin.
He adjusted his robe, picked up his file, and walked towards the courtroom.
This time, the case was a murder trial.
He paused for a few seconds at the door.
He took a deep breath.
Then he opened the door and went inside.
His eyes immediately fell on the defendant's chair.
For a moment, he froze in place.
The defendant...
It was the man he had accidentally bumped into that morning.
And the man recognized him.
The two made eye contact.
A faint smile appeared at the corners of the man's lips.
