Last Ride

“Jack, I can’t believe you cheated on me!!! H-how could YOU do it?” Vanessa said with tears running down her face.

“Vanessa, don’t make such a big deal out of it,” Jack replied calmly.

“What are you talking about, Jack?”

“Come on… did you really not notice?” Jack laughed. “I never loved you. I just wanted to get you into my bed.”

Then Jack slowly started walking closer to Vanessa.

Vanessa looked at her hand, holding a positive pregnancy test in her palm. She stared at it for a moment, rage filling her eyes, then crushed the test in her hand.

She looked around, grabbed the closest wine bottle, and while crying, tried to smash Jack’s head with it in anger.

But Jack caught it.

“You little bitch! You really thought you could kill me?” Jack said without any emotion.

He grabbed a knife from the counter and stabbed her five times in the belly. Blood was all over the place.

Jack suddenly woke up screaming in terror.

“Aaaaaah!”

He was breathing heavily.

“Uh… uhh… uhh…”

“Uff… that was just a nightmare,” Jack said while starting to calm down.

He jumped up from the bed and looked around himself.

But Vanessa was nowhere to be found.

“Honey? Where are you?” Jack asked, slightly scared.

“I’m in the kitchen, baby,” Vanessa answered.

Jack breathed out in relief.

He walked to her and hugged her tightly.

“I’m sorry… I cheated on you with your sister,” Jack said, crying while trying to explain himself. “I was drunk and…”

Vanessa calmly stopped him.

“Don’t worry, honey. It’s all okay.”

She smiled.

“And guess what? I have a big surprise for you… I’m pregnant!” she said happily.

Jack screamed with happiness.

“I… I’m gonna be a father! I’m gonna be a FATHER!”

“Yes, honey,” Vanessa replied happily. “And you will be the greatest father ever.”

Two hours passed, and Jack was putting on his brown leather coat.

“Where are you going, honey?” Vanessa asked.

“I’m going on a motorcycle ride with the boys,” he replied.

“Okay,” Vanessa said and smiled at him.

“Oh, could you stop at the grocery store? We need some milk, bread, and eggs.”

“Don’t worry, honey. I’ll stop there,” Jack replied.

As Jack walked out of the house into the cold day, he took out his phone.

Suddenly, his head started hurting badly.

Then he heard a strange scream.

“AAAAAAHHHH!”

He started breathing heavily.

“My head… my head…”

Then it suddenly stopped.

“What the fuck was that?”

He looked around.

“Okay… anyways, I… I should call Mark.”

“Yo, Mark, where are you?”

“I’m in front of my house, waiting for you and Timmy,” Jack said.

“Oh, umm… Timmy got diarrhea, so he stayed home this time,” Mark replied, joking that Timmy was scared of riding in the winter.

“But don’t worry, I’ll be there in a minute.”

Finally, Mark arrived.

“How are you doing, big bro?” Jack asked.

“I’m doing great. Let’s hop on.”

They got on their motorcycles and started riding.

After some time, Mark calmly overtook a car, and Jack followed him.

After a while, Jack said:

“We’ll need to stop at the grocery store.”

“As you say, boss,” Mark replied.

“By the way, how is Vanessa doing?”

“We’re having a baby,” Jack replied.

“Really, brother? That’s great news!”

A couple of minutes passed.

Mark calmly overtook another car.

Jack followed him.

But suddenly…

Jack saw something he didn’t expect.

There was a truck right in front of him.

The driver pressed the brakes, and the truck stopped right in front of Jack.

Jack looked around himself.

“Why did everything stop?”

Nothing around him was moving.

The cars beside him were frozen.

The truck in front of him was still.

Then he looked to the right.

He saw a deer eating grass.

The deer suddenly looked at him.

Jack looked around again.

“I… I should stand up.”

He got off his motorcycle and looked around again.

Then he looked at the motorcycle.

And he saw himself still sitting there.

His body was breathing heavily.

“Hhh… huuuh… what… what happened?”

Suddenly…

The truck started moving again.

His motorcycle flew across the whole road with him.

Jack looked around again.

And then he saw a dark character wearing a black cape, holding a scythe in its hands.

The character suddenly looked at Jack.

It slowly lifted its head.

Under the coat…

There was Vanessa.

She was looking at Jack.

“Goodbye, Jack.”

Jack looked at his hands.

There was blood all over them.

His eyes widened.

Suddenly, Vanessa whispered into his ear, her voice was cold as the winter air around them:

“Jack… you promised you would never hurt me. Now… I’m going to take you with me.”
