Prologue
Victoria Valentine had no idea what she was in for.
After Victoria walked out of Elke’s office, Darya Glavan pointed down the hallway.
“Your room’s ready,” Darya told Victoria. “Follow me.”
She led Victoria to a room that was conveniently located right next to Brooke’s.
“This is much nicer than I expected, honestly,” Victoria said.
“This is a private, and VERY well funded institution, not Dekalb County Mental Health, sweetie,” Darya said.
“If it’s so well funded, why do you have so many jobs?” Victoria asked. “Bodyworker, housekeeper-”
Darya cut her off.
“I like doing things,” Darya said. “Being useful. Problem?”
“None at all, Oksana,” Victoria said as she chuckled to herself.
As Victoria chuckled at her terrible joke, she kept alternating between rubbing her neck and right wrist.
Darya tilted her head and watched her for a second.
“My name’s Darya, sweetie,” she said.
She then grabbed Victoria’s right hand.
“What are you doing! LET ME-”
Darya quickly pulled Victoria’s hand toward her.
*CRACK!*
“OWWW!!!”
She then quickly moved behind Victoria and put her in what looked like a headlock.
“WHAT THE-”
*CRACK!*
“Oh, you BITCH! I’m gonna-”
“Feel a bit better?” Darya asked. “I’m pretty sure you already do.”
“Wait.”
Victoria looked at her wrist, and moved her hand back and forth. She then rubbed her neck.
“What just happened?”
Darya only smiled.
“You’re-” Victoria started.
Darya cut her off.
“Good at what I do?” Darya said. “I’m aware.”
Darya then left.
