Prologue
MISSING: Alicia Keyes
The poster hang on the general store's corkboard, reminding everyone just how much this town has gone to shit. Two men were sitting at a table by the deli discussing what they knew.
"It's the sixth one this year."
"Tragic. Especially knowing the condition they'll find her body in."
"It has to be the work of one man."
"No shit. They're all found the same way."
They ceased talking to continue their lunch. Talking about her wasn't going to get her found.
Another man listened intently from the counter. He had been wiping it down for half an hour now, just to eavesdrop. He was the owner, he was also the only employee. Since this town was so small, and this was the only convenience store, he was the most trustworthy man in town.
He smiled, knowing his customers trusted him so much. He finally through the dirty rag into a nearby bucket, splashing water on the floor.
I'll mop it later.
He moves his attention to the tv. He turns it on and increases the volume slightly. Some customers like the tv, some don't. He did.
He turned it on absent-mindedly and went to stock some cigarettes. They always sold well around here.
Suddenly a noise caught his attention. A... song?
🎶"I'm living in a world you designed~~. I'm never gonna change my mind!"🎶
That voice... It seeped into his very body and touched his soul. It was a voice he had never heard before.
He looked back up at the tv and there it was.
The angel who sang to him.
God, what's your name?
A few minutes later and the song finished. The entire time, the man was transfixed.
"Thank you everyone for listening!" The angel waved to the audience and smiled.
They're smiling at me...
"Tune in next time to hear a new song from the latest hit: Virgo Star!" The announcer shouted and the world itself faded away.
The angel had a name.
Virgo.
What a perfect name.
