Chapter 1

"You are doing great Lora, push baby. Our baby girl is almost here! You are doing great!" Jeremy Oakes said to his mate. She had been in labor for hours and it was killing him to see her in pain. "Remember the promise you made me" Lora said as she pushed "I do. But that won't happen. I will have both of my girls with me tonight." He said holding his mate's hand as she pushed once more. The loud cry of their daughter made both of them smile. "She's here baby" Jeremy said kissing his mate's head. "You did it! She is beautiful" Jeremy said once more as the doctor's place the baby on his mate's chest. Lora was smiling and looking at her daughter. "I think you win Jer. River Lynn is a perfect name." The couple had found each other luckily in their own pack. They had been friends for years so when they found out they was mates they was very excited and couldn't wait to start a family. So, at 17 they welcomed their daughter, but life isn't always a fairytale

The small family spent 2 days in the hospital; they were heading to the car as Lora smiled "She is such a sweet little girl. She hardly cries. She is amazing" Jeremy had helped his mate into the car and buckled their daughter in. "Both of you are amazing" being in complete awe with his mate. As they drove down the road a car was coming on their side of the road. Before either car could stop, they collided into each other. Sending Jeremy's flipping into the air and had it landing on the roof instantly he felt like his heart had been pulled out of his chest.

Jeremy groaned hearing his daughter cry. "You are okay River. Daddy is coming" he said quickly unhooking his belt and looking beside him not seeing his mate. He seen the window had a hole in it. "No." He said moving himself to the back grabbing their daughter who instantly curled into him. while holding their daughter Jeremy kicked the back door off and slid out.

He was bleeding and hurt badly but right now he didn't care. Once he got out, he looked at the road seeing his mate laying there. He rushed to her side as she looked up at him "Baby, you are okay. Your wolf can heal this." he said panicked "Jer. Take care of our baby girl. She will need you and please remind her I love her." Jeremy was holding back tears "No, you can't just leave us. You can make..." Before he finished, he pulled his daughter closer to him as he felt his heart completely break. His wolf was howling in pain which made the tears start pouring.

Jeremy and his newborn daughter stood near the open grave. He was watching his mate be lowered into the ground where they had first met. It was near a small cliff where they hung out at when they were younger as he a memory cut him like a knife

"I love it up here, it's so freeing" Jeremy said laying back looking at Lora. "If I ever die. I want to be buried up here"

The memory switched again to the duo sitting in that same spot finding out they were mates, to their own ceremony just so Jeremy could say Lora was his wife. To their picnics, Lora telling him he was going to be a father, and now...Her place of rest

"I'm sorry Jeremy, Lora was an amazing woman." Cole the alpha said touching his friend's shoulder. "If you need time, we understand. I can pull some of the workload to Gamma Charles." Jeremy sighed looking down at his daughter. "That would help. thank you" Jeremy spun walking back to his now empty house. It was two stories tall. "The more kids, the merrier. We can make a small army." Lora said while house hunting. Jeremy could still smell his mate's scent and took a deep breath, knowing it would be leaving sooner than later.
