A home for the unwanted, where they were treated like slaves. This was the home of the poorest of the poor, where those who have no where to go, go. Some are criminals, others are just those down on their luck and fell into hand times.
They all work from dawn to dust with out a break, made to do back breaking jobs, given little food and even less money, this was the life of the poor house residents of the Victorian er, a time of great leaps and pounds in technology but terrible time for those who where left behind in the path of progress.
The men and women working until they drop, breaking stones and making items to be sold. The children doing dangerous jobs where they could get seriously hurt or even killed trying to do what they are told.
Many people know about what goes on in those terrible places but none try to even help the poor people who have no choose but to go to those dark rat invested places. The rich laugh at the misfortune of those below them and do not give them a second glance.
All those who enter hope to one day leave and never look back, to be able to stand on their own two feet and make something of them selves but they all know that they will never be free, the owners will never let them go, for they signed they selves over to them when they entered.
Will the pain of captivity ever go a way, will the poor souls of those trapped ever be freed. No one knows, but they continue to hope and dream that one theirs lives will change and the freedom that they long for will one day be in fact a reality.
