_ the third victim
The television was the only source of sound in the quite living room.
The news anchor's calm yet serious voice echoed through the room.
" Another young woman's body has been discovered once again. The victim was found under the same mysterious circumstances as the previous two cases. According to the initial investigation, the cause of death appears to be hypothermia whether these incidents are isolated crimes...... or the work of a serial killer."
A chill ran down Vidhi's spin.
Before she could hear the rest of the report.
Click.
The television went black.
Vidhi blinked in surprise before turning toward her older brother.
A small frown on her face.
"Brother.... why did you turn it off??" she asked, her voice carrying a hint of disappointment. "I was listening to the news".
Adwik lowered the remote onto the table and looked at her for a moment. A faint, understanding smile appeared on his face.
"I know ", he said softly. "But i also know what happens after you watch things like this."
Vidhi looked away without saying anything.
Adwik sighed.
"You spend the whole night frightened... and then you wake up from another nightmare."
For a brief second, guilt flickered across Vidhi's face. She hated admitting it....
But he wasn't wrong.
Vidhi rested her chin on the back of the couch, still thinkinabout the news. She had just watched.
"You know,Brother...." she said after a normal." Have you noticed how many people have gone missing lately? "
She looked at him, her curiosity evident in her eyes.
"And now these murde..."
She shook her head slowly.
"It doesn't feel normal anymore."
Adwik's expression turned serious.
He lowered his coffee mug onto the table before looking at her.
"I know."
His voice was calm, but the exhaustion behind it was impossible to miss.
"That's exactly why i keep telling you not to stay out late."
He leaned back against the sofa and let out a quiet sign.
"These days i can't even pick you up from the cafe."
A hint of guilt crossed his face.
"You know how busy I've been lately."
He smiled weakly
"And you also know how much i worry about you."
Vidhi couldn't help but smile
"I know you worry about me."
She walked over and gently nudge his shoulder.
"But don't worry so much."
A playful grin appeared on her face.
"I'm not that weak anymore."
Adwik chuckled softly
"No matter how old you get....". "You'll always be my little sister."
Before Vidhi could answer _
Ding Dong
The doorbell echoed through the house.
" I'll get it."
Adwik walked toward the front door.
The moment he opened it...
He freeze
His eyes widened in surprise.
".....you?"
