Chapter One; After The Explosion

Will set Asher down with the backpack. He walked towards the petrol pump. It still worked. He quickly went into the shop, returning with a petrol container. He used cash from the till to activate the pump. Looking around, there were a few cars. He opened a car door to one, checked the dash. There were keys left there for safe keeping it seemed, probably after the apocalypse. Will then started the vehicle; the petrol metre was full. He got out of the car and picked Asher and the bag up. Will put Asher in the back seat, the bag on one floorboard, the petrol can on the other. They soon set off on the road.

Soon they arrived at their home, Birmingham. They drove past their old house, taking an old, abandoned forest road to a cabin that had been renovated but never lived in. After parking, Asher and everything else were brought into the cabin. It’s a wonder the house was never used again. Everything was there, furniture and necessities, even a whole television set. Maybe the price was too high?

Will went out back to connect the power to the charged solar panels he got from their house with their group at Chester. The power switched on. Afterwards, he put everything from the bag away. He sat on the sofa and lifted Asher’s head to rest on his lap. His head was hot; maybe a minor fever? Will placed a cold, wet cloth on his head to bring the fever down. Will turned the telly on and at a low volume, it played a multi-film from a case.
