Chapter 1

It was supposed to be a boring Tuesday, but with her mother busy, Kim Jiwoo had decided to visit her best friend's university instead.

Luckily, the campus cafeteria was almost empty-a peaceful haven for Jiwoo, who much preferred the quiet over a roaring crowd.

She and Cha Minho picked up something to eat and settled down at one of the tables to enjoy their time together.

While they were eating, a group of five boys entered the cafeteria.

It was Eun Jinwoo, the leader, along with Kim Sayon, Chan Dino, Park Suyoon, and Kim Suho.

They didn't make any dramatic entry or any unwanted noise; they just came in silently, took their plates, and sat down.

They were sitting far enough away that Minho could whisper to Jiwoo about them.

Minho, who was a certified overthinker and a total scaredy-cat, leaned in nervously.

"Jiwoo, no matter what, stay away from that group, okay? As long as you are here, stay with only me."

Jiwoo paused, curious. "Why? Are they criminals?"

"No," Minho whispered, glancing over her shoulder.

"But Jinwoo's family is a gangster family. I've never actually heard of anything bad that he has done himself, but still! Please, for my sake, stay away from him, okay?"

Jiwoo smiled softly and agreed to the promise. But in their path, something else was written.

After finishing their food, Minho took Jiwoo to give her a survey of the campus.

While they were walking, someone suddenly called out to Minho.

She turned to Jiwoo and said, "Sit on one of these benches, I'll come right back!"

The bench Jiwoo sat on happened to be right behind the basketball ground, where some boys were playing a game.

Suddenly, by mistake, one of the boys threw the ball hard, and it went flying straight toward Jiwoo's side.

But before the ball could hit her, someone intercepted it and stopped it right in its tracks.

It was none other than Jinwoo.

He threw the ball back to the players, telling them to play safely.

Then, he turned around to look at Jiwoo and immediately began to scold her.

"Hey, are you an idiot? Don't you know how to dodge a ball?"

Jiwoo replied calmly, "I do know."

"Then why didn't you?" Jinwoo asked, crossing his arms. "Are you blind?"

Jiwoo nodded.

In complete confusion, Jinwoo blinked and asked again,

"...Are you blind?"

This time, Jiwoo looked toward his voice and said,

"Yes, I am."
